Ok, I guess maybe they were accidentally dug off the edge of the screen. Other than maximizing your SL window I'm not sure what to try. Kepp checking back here, chances are someone will have an answer soon.

Try this:
1. Turn off camera control window.
2. Ctrl+Alt+D to enable the Advanced menu if you don't have it enabled. In there, find the "Debug settings" option, which will pull up the window with the debug settings.
3. In there find the FloaterCameraRect3 setting, and click the 'Reset to default' button.

That will reset the Camera window position to default, however, if you turn it on now, it won't be there, but I think the setting will get written to your configuration file upon quitting, so upon relogging and turning the camera window back on, it should appear in the default position.

If that doesn't work, you might need to go into the configuration files and manually edit this setting to some sensible value before restarting SL.

Alt-click, alt-ctrl-click and alt-ctrl-shift click are magnitudes better, but you never know...

A lot of people who come here aren't previous gamers, and don't think about using the mouse and keyboard for movement like a gamer would. Those are the folks who gravitate toward on-screen controls, I've found.

I prefer the arrow keys in that configuration, since a wee bit of nerve damage makes my mouse control a little iffy, but I ditched the onscreen controls about 5 seconds after I started SL.

And, Ghosty, I'd really had minimal gaming experience prior to SL, so I'm not sure that's always it.

The OP has an August join date. He wouldn't necessarily know the other method.

I agree it may not be how it always is, but I wouldn't be surprised if that was a lot of it. I came from a gaming background, and navigating without WASD+mouse was like learning to walk underwater for me. The camera controls buttons are intolerable. Alt, Alt+Ctrl and the mouse make me happy, but I've had people who aren't gamers looking over my shoulder tell me it's almost naueseating to watch the world spin around like that. I think they just aren't used to that sort of movement.

I edited keys.ini to make Q and E turn left-right and WASD-move, wrote scripts for my mouse to do alt/ctrl-alt/ctrl-alt-shift clicks with the extra buttons, and it became just about bearable.

Use them all the time for building, especially for the very small things.

Unfortunately, the camera control window is not a HUD, or that would have worked.
