Very Odd Issue - Grass not Showing up in Parcel?

Hey Guys,

I have a very unusual problem that I just can't figure out.

I just purchased some land. All I can see for the texture of hte land is dirt, with very VERY light patches of green. And by Light I mean barely visible. THe gentlemen that sold me the land says there is grass. He even took a screenshot of it and showed me. (I'm in the screenshot, in case you were wondering when he took it). Anwyay, there is clearly bright green grass, just like there should be. I have all my graphics setting on maximum, and have tried both the Windlight, Dazzle, and regular viewers. I can also see grass on other land, including the parcel I was renting previously, but on this new lot, all I see is Dirt. So I don't think its a setting on my computer.

So my question is....whats going on? I don't think you can change the texture of the land, so why can't I see the grass, and he can? This is very frustrating, and any help would be appreciated.

Anyone have any ideas?

Before casting about for an elaborate technical rendering explanation: Has there been any terraforming done on the land since that grassy picture was taken? (Different elevations of the surface will have different textures applied.)

No, there hasn't been any changes to the terrain since I purchased it. I mean he took the picture, and I took the picture at the same time (about an hour ago), then we swapped and compared them. He could see grass, I could not. Makes no sense!

Right. I was afraid that's what you meant about standing on the parcel when the picture was taken. Okay, so... since you're seeing other grass on other parcels, I'm guessing this is just this particular patch texture, and that it might come back if you clear cache and reboot. But just to cover a possibility which doesn't really make sense (because you're seeing other grass): If you go to the debug menu (variously labeled "Client" or "Advanced", Rendering, check that all Types and Features are enabled.

Have you tried water?

In not sure what you mean by trying water....in going to try a reboot. Do I need to do anything to clear the game's cache?

I will have tyo try it in about an hour, as I'm not at my house at the moment.

edit preferences network clear cache to clear the cache

then reboot (it will give you a prompt regarding the reboot)

Also check your terrain detail in preferences.
