This - I guess - is an intermediate question..I've been here long enough to get to grips with the fundamental stuff..now I'm onto figuring out the slightly more advanced stuff..so..

I recently bought a hovercraft which when you clicked on it brought up a menu, along with the usual load of technical options was colour/texture adjustments. You simply selected the colour/texture combination from the list provided and hey-presto the craft transformed in front of you. Nothing particularly revolutionary about that, lots of stuff in SL offer the same ability. Here's the question though..how do they do that..?

The HUD that appeared I can probably get from SLEx (there's loads of suppliers of customisable HUD's), also there's a few texture changing scripts available but how they work..I have no idea..any advice..?

Thanks in advance..Perre..:)

Things that do stuff in SL do so by having a script in them - and there's a whole forum full of scripting information.

There's a secondlife.com wiki with a big part of it being devoted to scripting.

Also, there's an older wiki at lslwiki.net with a ton of scripting information.

There are two old scripting commands, llSetColor, and llSetTexture, that one might start with for learning how to change object's color and texture.

I've given you three folders of scripts, over a hundred little scripts.

In General Scripts 1 there's a script called Cycle Textures that does something related to your question, and there's one called ColorChange in the same folder.

Scripting can be a lot of fun for some folks - enjoy.
