No login: Can't connect to version manager

Logged in as alt, relog unsuccessful, got "can't connect to version manager" message. Tried to relog with alt, got same message. Now message has changed to teusual generic "unexpected error" message.

Same. I was able to log in an hour ago. Now getting that same message. Thought it was the wireless connection in my hotel.
Emptying cache and rebooting did nothing. Trashed the version and am downloading it again. Anyone else on a mac?

I can't log in either, time to try the beta grid.
I'm making progress on running Hipihi, I got it to display the login screen and let me enter my name, but I can't enter any text into the password field.
Perhaps before long we'll have a choice of modern virtual worlds, so if SL can't run, instead of hitting the forums and the beta grid, folks will just switch over to Hipihi and Splume and Areae and Outback Online and uWorld the Atari virtual world.
I think they've just upgraded Papermint, in the event anyone might want to fill some time trying out that somewhat different visual approach to making a virtual world.

Back on normal grid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just logge dout of beta and gave the normal grid a shot.... it worked!
