Full perm not full perm?

I bought some hair which was advertised as full-perm, and sure enough when I got it and took it out of the box into my inv there were no restrictions on it shown for copy, mod or transfer. But when I rez it, it becomes no transfer, although the copy in my inv still doesn't have ";(no transfer)" or anything.

Similarly, if I give a copy of the hair to someone else, they receive it as a no-transfer item.

I IM'd the vendor to complain, and got no response. Some time later, I saw another hair product which was also advertised - by a different vendor - as full perm, and which showed the same strangeness when rezzed. Both items turn out to have been made by the same creator; no IMs to vendor or creator have been answered.

Has anyone got any idea what might be going on here? How can an object that appears to have no restrictions turn into a no-transfer object when rezzed, and why can I transfer it to someone else who then receives it as no-transfer?

Maybe the creator isn't able to respond away for holidays, tried also notecard?
Sometimes permissions also go buggy.

Items do not take on their full set of perms until they are rezzed. If any part of the hair is 'no transfer', as soon as it is rezzed, the rezzed version will pick up that trait.

Ah, I thought the perms were "inherited" when the item's linked in the first place. Thanks for the explanation.

also if there are any scripts in it that are a different permission (or a prim inside a prim with alternate permissions) the whole will reflect both permission sets

that is how some ppl get the no mod no xfer no copy permissions (something inside with opposite permissions)

sounds like the one mentioned above, the perms where changed while still in inventory, so when you rez it sets the perms that were set in inventory

hopefully you will be able to get in touch with the creator and straighten it out
