I just got a piece of land, got my store all set up last night, I have it to show in search, but when I tried to search for it myself its not showing up? How long does it usually take?

First thing to check is.. If your land is mature. Make sure the "Show Mature" is checked in search...

One more question I had was about Owners, I made a group and I gave my rl boyfriend ownership permissions as well, everything is checked but it wont let him change any media or anything, any clues?

Is the land group owned or are you the owner of the land?

Yes, he's wearing the right tag.

You probably need to deed the land to your group. The land needs to be group owned for that permission to work I believe.

Go to about land, underneath your name is a group option, if it's empty click set and choose your group. If he still can't set media you'll need to deed it.

Tick the deed land box, tick owner makes contribution if it's mainland (if it's estate you don't need to do this) and then click the deed button. The land will now show as being group owned.

I'm not completely new, I know the difference between renting and owning land, I am the owner, I bought it.
