In my eploring i noticed it costs money for things to be included in search and classifieds, sure you all knew that. Another thing i noticed is how irrelevant search results can be.
I search for "male elf skins" get back things i could care less about.
If an external classified/search system doesn't exist i am going to architect one. Something you can list a searchable thing on for a small weekly fee. There would be no doors for people to get top ranking above others, same fee for all, It would be chat channel driven on a HUD item.

I beleive just like placing a classified in a newspaper the classified/search item should be human checked before approval. I'm not the best person for this, but if i did have this featurei would offer contractial work for people to offer services to review these classified/searchs and compare to the location and see if they may help come up with better search phrases that the owner isn't aware of.

yes people would need to get a HUD item for it all to work.
You would pay the hud item, no reoccuring debits.
Searches would not care about money or how many people were somewhere.
Search text submittals would be reviewed for relevancy and cleanliness by real people.

Translation services could be provided to translate into the languages people search by.
for example, search results could be returned in the speakers native tongue. the search itself can be in there native tongue and translated before searching the text.

optional rating system for relevancy could be created and people vote on relevance. This would be an optional filter, 1 vote per person per search.

searches via chat commands
search text added via chat commands
Web interface for creating classified/search could be created if demand showed.
The only externally hosted stuff would be the database for the classified/search.
The whole thing could develop into a marketing management system eventually.

is this something people would be interested in?

While not exactly like what you're describing, there are 3rd Party, resident ran external classified/search systems out there.

they reire you to be at a terminal though don't they? plus they deal with sales and stuff to. I want to just target searching from anywhere in SL. at any time.

SLExchange requires you to visit a terminal to be initially setup - from there, you can buy things directly from the website and have them automatically delivered to you in-world.

I'm not exactly certain how Onrez works - if i'm not mistaken, that doesn't require the use of a HUD either, except past initial setup.

see those aren't what i'm getting at.
web browser needs to be 100% optional.
i should be able to search and get results within SL anywhere i want, its not just for products.

If you think you have a better system in mind, I wouldn't let the presence of existing systems stop you. :) Innovation only makes our world better :)

if you would have explored this side of things, you`ve seen that doing anything in sl is pritty much crap when it comes to displaying stuff and web is the only alternative

This is what the new search all does. If you have objects for sale, they should be listed on a parcel as being for sale. The object can be found, if set properly on a parcel that is listed in search. The system is far from optimized, as few people have fit their descriptions and listed objects for inclusion in search. It's still very new.
