Educational Discount & Buying Land

I learned about a woman, a primary school music teacher in real life, who used the LL educator's discount to purchase a few estate sims. She is renting out the land on the sims. The land is used for noneducational purposes as a home for her and her friends, and shop/home rentals. It is not used for education, it's for her own profit.

What is required to be eligible for an educator's discount and are there any land use restrictions after you buy the island sim, such as must be used for educational purposes. I guess all this woman had to do was submit a copy of her teacher's certification or maybe just a paystub from the school district.

I think the educational discount is pretty significant, about half off, and I wonder if there is also a tier discount. Does anyone have more information on this or has anyone used the discount to purchase an island sim?

I saw a commercial for an above-ground pool. It was thirty seconds long. You know why? Because that's the maximum amount of time you can depict yourself having fun in an above-ground pool - M.H.

You know, I'm sick of following my dreams, man. I'm just going to ask where they're going and hook up with 'em later. - M.H.

I would damn well hope so!

I can send a copy of my military ID if they want. Gimme an Edge on people and save some cash so I don't have to pay full price and make up for it.

Educational pricing is $850 initially (not 100% sure about that one, but around that amount) and $150/month and pre-paid for an entire year and comes with voice at no cost.

There are some restrictions on what you're allowed to do with the sims though (no commercial activities for instance).

As nearly as I can tell, if the land (purchased at the educational discount) is being used for non-educational activities, and LL is made aware of it, the land would be taken away from her, and within the letter of the contract (no official opinion here on whether it is legal, just stating LL's terms), she would not be entitled to a refund under such circumstances.
