No. Teen SL and regular SL are totally separate grids.

Teen SL and regular SL are totally separate grids. Actually they're the same grid but the answer's still: no, you can't cross between them. _____________________

Yep. Think of it as a private, private estate.
Jack Linden has a Map O' the Gridde in his office on the Linden Estate Services region which actually shows where the teen grid is. edit: see http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Region#Grid _____________________

There is no way for a family member or a friend to gain access to the teen grid to meet with a teen member, and no way for a teen member on the teen grid to acess the main grid.
The only adults that are on the Teen grid are Lindens and approved educators. To get access as an educator requires buying a sim as an alt, designating it for teen education, passing background checks, and then having the sim and the sim owning account transferred PERMENANTLY to the Teen grid. The owner of an approved teen education sim can sponsor other adult account alts to be transferred to their sim as teachers, builders or content creators, after a background check is passed. But again, it is a permenant, one-way trip. The adult accounts approved are confined ONLY to that sim (or group of sims owned by the same educator), and can never leave it to see other teen grid sims. If an educator or content creator wants to work for more than one educational group on the teen grid, they have to repeat the whole process with a new adcount for THAT educator. Once set up, and education sim can either be open access for teens, or invitation-only access. If it is open, the adults can't IM the teens, the teens can't join groups sponsored by the educator, and there are other restrictions. If it is invitation-only, I believe the teen needs to create an alt, which is allowed ot join the educator's group, and then that teen's account is also confined to that education sim. Yes, they make it almost impossibly difficult. _____________________

Yes, they make it almost impossibly difficult. Pity its not as hard for teens to get into the adult grid _____________________

Taking into consideration the types of people that WANT to contact teens anonymously online... The grid split as-is is a very reasonable compromise. (^_^)

I appreaciate the responses and love the fact that my neice is so protected. However, what is to stop an adult signing up using a fake birthday?

The same as what stops a teen from using a fake birthday to sign up for the adult grid. I was told a teen had to submit prove of age, I remember from the mentor group that a number of teens bypass this by asking to be ARed as underage on the main grid |

I was told a teen had to submit prove of age, I remember from the mentor group that a number of teens bypass this by asking to be ARed as underage on the main grid When I signed my son up, all we had to do is give a valid cell number. Maybe that's changed since November, though. _____________________
