Cuz RC 1.21 is far too full of bugs, and I can't seem to find the previous one.

Unless Im mistaken, the previous one is 1.20, which is no longer an RC but the main viewer.

Yep. Just use the main 1.20.15 viewer then. That is what the final version of the earlier 1.20 RC morphed into.

No, there was still a 1.20 RC, which I was using until today. I think I managed to delete the installer, which is annoying, as once again, there are snapshot issues with the new version.

This time, you can save a snapshot to disk quickly and easily, but then if you take another snapshot, the save button remains greyed out. You then have to switch to "upload" or "send a postcard", then switch back, and only then does the save button become usable. Complete bloody rigmarole.

except snapshots to disk take 20 seconds in hi-res and 3000x2000 type sizes. The RC was about 19 seconds quicker.

The time for anything to go from SL to Disk has been very erratic lately. I have had times when I wanted to save just an existing 512 x 512 snapshot to disk and it took 15 to 20 seconds, and yet with the same client, same account, just a few minutes later in the same logged-in session, I saved a similar picture to disk in a second or less.

Yep. I've always been delighted with past RCs. The photo handicap is a deal breaker for me... or would be if the only alternative wasn't the bloody official viewer.

The early releases of an RC are always full of bugs. Sometimes they really get you where it hurts, and sometimes it is in areas you personally don't use, but that drives someone else batty. That is why it is important for lots of different people to try actively using each RC release - so they can CATCH and fix all these bugs!

The odd thing is that items that don't need meddling with somehow manage to be completely screwed.

If you go to the Second Life Wiki, which is at wiki.secondlife.com, and search for "old versions". without the quote, you will find in the results the following page: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Old_versions .

If you scroll down that page you will find several tables with links for the installers of the release viewer, the release candidate viewer, the first look viewer, and the preview grid viewers.

So, go to http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Old_versions and scroll down till you find exactly what you want.

I will use it when not taking any snapshots, however for snapshot taking, it is usually when I am ready to do ads, so I don't want to be spending 3 hours doing something that would normally take me about an hour at most

blech I have never felt so frustrated with SL as I do now... not even during down times and all the other things that usually annoy folks!

suezanne I appreciate the help, but I think that confused me more than trying to search the jira

I just can not seem to make sense of that place, I tried, and I tried, but it just looks like a mismash of information that I do not know how to navigate and just trying to find something there gets me so frustrated that it literally brings me to tears

which is why I came here, at least the tears derived from here happen for other reasons than my own ineptitude

It's a webpage with links on it. There's nothing complicated about it.

http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Old_versions

Scroll down the page till you get to the version you want. Click on the appropriate link.

Bookmark or add a favorite for http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Old_versions , then you don't have to remember where the page with the links is.

Or just remember, SL information is in the Second Life Wiki.

The search term to find old versions with is not something complicated, it's "old versions"

Someone made a page with as memorable a title as could possibly be made to find old versions on.

1.20 is now the production release and the 1.20 RC has been superseded by the 1.21 RC.

If you have too many problems with 1.21, get the production release.

I have the production release. Snapshots take 20 seconds and flirt with crashing the application, while the 1.20 RC worked perfectly.
