A Question / Ghost Avatars

Is there a way that your AV can remain at the location you logged off at?

My partner and I would like to do this so if anyone visits our place when we're not in-world, they can still see us there. I've heard the term "Ghost Avatars" in the past. I'm not sure if that was a problem or an option.

To my knowledge... this is just a freak thing that sometimes happens. It's not something we can choose to do.

It happened to me once... I was at home with my hubby and I get an IM from someone asking me if they can help me... I responded back with "no, but why do you ask?" He said "you've been standing on my land for hours now, I was just wondering." Then he took a picture and sent it to me. Sure enough, there I was, ghosted and ruthed. He then sent me a TP to join him. So after I got there and saw my ghosted self... we both had a good laugh. My ghosted AV sat there for about another 3 hours, then finally poofed.

You could make a "cardboard cutout" model of yourself with a nice friendly expression on your face and stand it there... take a pic of yourself, then pop it on a prim (ideally with a transparency channel removing the background) and just stand it up where ever you want it. That'd work!

(It'd be less confusing to visitors than having an unresponsive avatar standing around, too)
