anyone here have some insight as to the demise of the private island France Money Camp ? everything on the island has been removed. i havent received any replies from the owner. I would assume that they finally woke up to the fact that they were chucking hundreds of dollars a week at zombies who couldn't care less what the island bmght or might not have offered, but would just sit there sucking up resources. What many campers forget is that land costs money - a lot of money - to provide for people to come to, and you have to provide something for them to do. Sure, people don't mind a little expenditure for a play area of their own and possibly entertaining visitors or friends - but when you start spending considerable amounts of cash every week persuading people to visit you - on top of the $1675 outlay and $295 a month for the privilege of having the land - there comes a time when you realise that what you spend v what you get in return just is not worth it. That goes the same for both commercial and non-commercial activities. If land was a lot cheaper, you'd see less of the commercial copycat junk malls, clubs and suchlike - and more imaginative builds that truly were a pleasure to visit, actually captivating visitors rather than just looking for traffic points and pretending to be popular. _____________________

i did expect this to happen as i predicted, but i was hoping to buy the island from the owner and even discussed this with him and he told me he would inform me when he is ready, but it seems the island may already be in the process of being transferred to a new owner as the about land tab indicates "free testing sandbox".
i know the owner certainly would not clean the whole island out and turn it into a sandbox. i thought i would post here and see if someone else knows the owner better than i do, perhaps that person could provide an explanation as to whats going on. i do know he was very annoyed about bots and renters rezzing objects and advertising without paying for rent and even changed the camping objects to anti-bot and changing the time/pay ratio, but that still didnt stop the bots. i warned him plenty of times that his island is completely mis-managed as far as who can join the group (open enrollment for L$5) to build/rez on the island and where, that there were no restrictions at all. i was hoping to buy the island and rent affordable shops with my own version of anti-bot camping objects. i guess ill wait and see what happens next. |

Instead of paying campers, it would be cheaper to buy a seperate PC and run a ton of bots on it.
