I have the possibility to rent out a large part of my parcel as undeveloped land, would anyone like to chip in with some advice about pitfalls to watch out for. Also what do you think makes for a good landlord ?

Market is slow right now, so make the area attractive, the prims generous and the rent reasonable. Give people a reason to choose your land versus the over 500 sims worth of land for sale right now and the countless amount of land for rent.
Being a good landlord is easy: Be accomodating of people's requests, be responsive and timely when they need you and leave them alone to do their thing.
As far as pitfalls, just keep your expectations reasonable and be patient. It's not going to fill up overnight.

I found that responding to requests quickly is key so people feel someone is there. Most of the questions I have had to deal with \things like banning, adding extra people to the group due to partnering, and streaming contents like music and media concerns. I think other people have found problems like the tenant from hell (horrible builds, bad neighbor) and prim usage problems. I don't rent by prims so that has never been a problem for me. I have actually been enjoying be a landlord; I'm lucky to have really great people sharing my land..it can be a really good experience. Best of luck to you.
