I`m in SL for over 2 years now. In this time i made a shop and my avater inventory has grown to 15k+ items.

I did experience the "object missing from database" bug
(https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-553) before, but that was only a few objects.
this time i`m realy screwed ... over 10k of my inventory items DO NOT LIST in their folders.. they are just not there anymore .. builds , scripts , huds , clothing , skins textures en everything in between ..... ALL GONE! :(

as the old bug was never resolved i`m pretty spooked this wont be repaired either :( OMG !(

- did anyone else experience this and is there jira for it allready ?
- can i ask LL for support on this (i`m not premium but do own a sim - so thats support from a concierge i think)

That's a terrifying thing to log in to! :(

Have you tried clearing your cache and relogging? Maybe a few times, and relogging into a very quiet sim? Sometime the items will show up again when this happens. It's worth a try.

If clearing cache does not work, try completely reinstalling the viewer.

You also need to delete the *hidden* secondlife folder within your Application Data folder.(assuming your on windows) You can find this a few ways, the easiest is looking in the preferences dialog in your viewer under the network tab. There you will find a pointer to the cache folder.

Deleting this folder forces the viewer to completely refresh and it forces LL asset junk to find all your stuff again the next time you log in.

One very important thing to note, your chat logs may be in this folder too. they can be found in a similar way and backed up or moved if needed.

Best of luck! I have seen similar problems coming from my tenants this week. Not sure whats going on over there....

edit
PS: in my experience there are only a few ways to really lose inventory. What you are experiencing is a failure your inventory to point at your stuff. Not really inventory loss. more just corrupt files.

A couple ways I've lost things..... hang a no copy link set off the edge of a private sim > unlink > poof go all the prims hanging over. Or... and prob more common, dealing with parcel returned large unlinked coalesced objects. Rezzing such objects near a sim edge will poof any hanging over objects and poof them silently(!)

LL and the forums will quite often tell you to clear cache as a first step to just about any issue, which makes it sound like lip service. However, for inventory and texture related issues, clearing the cache really does fix it the majority of the time.

i had a friend that lost his inventory..all of it even the things he was wearing...so he was ruthed all the time..it took like a week or so before it was fixed..they did finally get it all back for him though..
i thought it was gone forever but he said they were working on it..
he is one of the more fortunate ones compared to some of the people i have seen losing things..
it would be a pain starting over since a lot of things i could never find again that i have and i am sure that goes for a lot of people too..
just glad you got your things back =)
