I've noticed that the SL Blog is mostly closed to comments now. After closing down most of the forums a few years ago because of the constant whining, they started the blog in an effort to "improve communication". All this did really was redirect the bitching, which is why most of the blog entries are closed to comments now I suspect. So why bother anymore? Lindens soliciting feedback have a little area here on the forums where they ask for opinions from residents. The blog was supposed to fill that role initially. I can understand why they don't want the constant negativity easily found and searchable on the net but their solution seems to be to relegate all discussions that might prove to be "uncomfortable" to tiny subsections of this forum where they can be deleted when things get ugly. I think it's silly. I can undertand why they do it but I still think it's silly.

All forms of communication are positive. The new set-up works well for me, I think you get more posts regarding the subject rather than just straight forward anti-LL/SL proproganda, taking up the limit of posts available on the blog. However, if you want to post anti-LL/SL proproganda you can still do that too.

The Blog is a PR tool now - just a place to post happy-talk news. The real serious stuff, like notices of problems, Torley's tutorials, and actual two way communication have been moved elsewhere (often to hard to find places). And virtually all of that is also one-way, with no one at LL listening and responding to their customers.
But then again, the functional structure of a Blog really isn't conducive to a real dialogue on a topic anyway. Blogs are really only designed for one-way communications, with occasional comments, or track-back links to other blogs.
Going back to using the Forums for two way discussions and feedback is a good move, if only the Lindens would actually REPLY more frequently. All too often, they get a thread with a thousand responses, and cherry pick half a dozen, mostly positive posts to reply to, in maybe three LL posts, and are silent about all the rest.
I really wish the entire LL staff, from M Linden on down to the lowest coder, would take a good course on how to provide excellent customer service. Their typical actions indicate that most of the staff either have no training at all in dealing with customers, or possibly that they are handcuffed by company policies that prohibit them from providing a really good level of customer service and communications.

it's LL's way of 'better communication' hiding comments and help has become the LL way. Im sxure the forums will follow suit if it actually is ever worked on. At least now new people can get some help since LL allows the peons to help and doesnt have to dirty thier hands by helping.
