Yes i know i can use the texture forums but no one ever answers those and i have waited a few days no response so im coming here to see.
I was trying to use the bucket fill tool and it would not fill in the selected area i had outlined.
I don't know really much about this program but im trying to learn it, with little success, and i can't find a tutorial on this specific topic.
If anyone use this program or knows a site that specifically talks about this issue, please send me an URL or some kind of help.
Thanks to all who help in advance
Anytime i have ever used the texturing site in the past i don't ever get any response, so if by some chance i get a response this time then it was news to me.

Did you even try the Gimp Help? Took me all of 4 seconds. file:///usr/share/gimp/2.0/help/en/gimp-tool-bucket-fill.htmlYes it's a local file in Gimp Help.

From: Dove Randt Yes i know i can use the texture forums but no one ever answers those and i have waited a few days no response so im coming here to see. At 7:00 PM SL time (4 hours ago) you posted for generic Gimp help, then at roughly 10:35 PM SL time (30 min ago) you posted this question about the fill bucket - both of those in the Texture forum. Your most recent post before that was on 12/29 about blocking people and in a thread about logins. So how do you figure that you have waited a few days with no response. The Texture forum is one of the most active ones here. Try slowing down and actually going thru the Gimp help stuff.

Is there a help file for Gimp 2.6? ftp://ftp.gimp.org/pub/gimp/help/ only has 2.4.1 and 2.4.2 help files.

Just FYI, there is a 10-week Gimp course taught in SL by Calla Cella. (The next one starts in 2 weeks I think.) It is an amazing class and I have more than received my money's worth. If you have any interest in that, contact Calla Cella or Ima Mechanique in world. I'm more than happy to answer any questions about the class as well.
One of the cool advantages of being in the Gimpster's group is that if you have a problem (like this one) or anything related to Gimp, you can ask if a mentor is available in channel. I usually get about 3 responses immediately.

My 2.6 has help. I'm on Linux, though; for about the last two years pretty much anything that has both a Linux and a Windows version, all the active development's happening on the Linux version.

I can get to a help file from version 2.6's help.
It's a help file for version 2.4.
There's is no 2.6 specific help file, is there?
Surely there's an online version of the Linux 2.6 help file, if such a thing exists.

A lot of times I find that I've selected an area in a different layer, or that I have a different layer active than the one that I want to bucket fill. It usually just takes going back and figuring out what I've selected where.

Dove, I tried responding to your PM but I'm getting some kind of weirdo SL "FORBIDDEN" message when I try to send it. Will try a bit later, but I pretty much said what Oryx did.

So when I hit F1 in Gimp 2.6 just now (Windows) it brought up this 2.6 help in my browser: http://docs.gimp.org/2.6/en/gimp-tool-bucket-fill.html (? added so the link is clickable) I fill a selection all the time Dove, but I do remember having to be sure it's on a drawable part of the layer's mask to be seen or obviously nothing will show up! I usually make this mistake when I mean to be drawing on the mask instead of the layer itself but have just my layer selected, similar to what Oryx described... Hope this helps! PS: From a quick glance at that help link, I also see the paint mode might affect seeing your fill too?

Me again, Dove. I've repeatedly tried responding to your forum PM but keep getting an error message while I have no trouble sending PM's to others. Might want to check to see if you have your receive PM enabled. (Sorry, I tried.)
