Being Stalked

Hi! I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. My friend is sort of being stalked by an ex-partner on here and we can't figure out how it is happening. He knows almost to the min how long she spends on second life (and how long her new partner is on!). He knows when she transfers items between AVs (she has tried to use other AVs but he always figures out who she is).

I bought a MystiTool and so far we haven't found any scripts that are out of place. Can anyone shed some light on how he may be getting all this info? He does not have access to her computer (at least physically).

Thanks advance for your help!

he knows her well. he knows her patterns, places of interest and the way she thinks. he probably also has one of those followers...

open map and TP then open map TP then open map TP then open map TP... all to new sims. very quickly. as fast as possible.

she needs to ignore him. he'll get bored when he quits getting a reaction.

she can also AR for harrassment every single time there's an incident.

I dunno about the transfers, but there are plenty of items inworld that will tell you when an avvie signs in and out, even without having them friended.

I was quite surprised the other day when someone at the Forum Hangout told me that I'd been at 'Bad Girls' during the week, according to their radar.

It's not that I mind, I don't care who finds out what I'd been up to and what I was or wasn't wearing at the time, but I was just surprised that someone could retrieve such information.

yes like being in the same group can show you online..plus spybots can pick up on what you are saying if you are on lands where he may have permissions..that or even a friend can be informing him..
stalkers are only a problem if you let them know they are a problem..ignore and mute the bastard best you can and AR every chance you get..

I have had a similar situation and previously posted here in the forums to try to obtain some info. The individual paid me back my L$1 each as I purchased hair demos. It was quite an eerie feeling. I too would like to know how someone is able to know even my transactions. I had not accepted anything from this individual other than I had to accept the payments as they appeared since there is no button to decline the payments. And those were done after I had muted the individual.

I will monitor this thread as I wonder if there are others who have encountered such stalking. It does make me wonder if my computer may have been hijacked somehow.

Who's been a bad girl, then? LOL!!

I didn't know it was so easy to retrieve information on our perambulations. All we need now is CCTV set up around sl and we might as well stay in the real world.

Seriously, as some of you may remember, a long time ago my ex-partner bugged our lands and houses and confronted me with my misdeeds before chasing me out of "our" home. Only when I partnered my present husband did we learn where the last bug was placed - in a picture I had been given by my old bf. And we only found that out coz my new partner bought the property from my ex and accidentally left the bug in place. My partner received 85 direct emails to his email address with me yattering to myself in sl or chatting with friends.

"I too would like to know how someone is able to know even my transactions."

Do they have your password? Change it!
Have you checked for keyloggers, other baddies on your hard drive?
New one on me how others would know a persons' transactions, other then the sellers.

I would think that seeing someone's transactions is a serious breach of SL security and I would AR that person and report exactly which transactions they are seeing.

There is a way to tell length of time your on...

SL Profile website can tell you how long your friends are online, I think thats the name of the website. But I think they must be on your friends list to do so. If he isnt off your friends list, defriend him. Then Mute him...and dont ever respond in any way at all to any of his IM's.

You need to have absolutely no contact with this person. Mute them. Ban them. Don't talk to them or about them to anyone. Act as if they do not exist.

If you respond to them at all, they consider that a relationship and they will continue to bother you as long as you respond to them, even if it's just you getting freaked out or angry.

Unlike RL, they can't actually hurt you.

Doing this is as easy as following someone with your camera, and paying them $L1 every time their point/edit particles touch a demo vendor board. Jeuvenile? yes.. serious hack? not even close.

For Conifer, it's not so much "retrieving" any info as it is having been in that sim when you were and noticing your name on their HUD scanner. I've noticed a few people from the forums on my radar when I've been out shopping.. no biggie really.

For the OP, tell your friend to take off any items that her ex might have given her, like jewelry, accessories, etc.. Devious individuals like to hide scripts inside modifiable attachments, then make them nomod so you cant see the contents and give them to people as gifts. Have her change her password, and start logging in to different regions from the login screen instead of always the same one or couple (to avoid fixed tracking orbs that might have been rezzed near where he knows she always logs in at).

your friend should rule out a backdoor hacker or keylogger on the computer.

http://www.majorgeeks.com

has a great page I call the "obstacle course" that wipes out just about any kind of malicious junk on a machine, and what it might not remove, there are well trained volunteers plus professionals to assist any problem eradications.

In addition, look in your inventory under friend cards and delete that too.

I second the notion of taking off everything, and wearing nothing this person gave you. On the upside, time for a little retail therapy! ;)

Update SL client too if you haven't.

For the time being leave all groups you belong to.

Go to a sandbox and rezz out everything you had before your current partner.
Edit > Contents, if you see any questionable scripts/bugs, get rid of bug or item.

Delete any notecards that came from old partner and Empty the trash folder.

Did you About Land and check the Objects tab?
Delete/ Auto return everything on your parcel that doesn't belong to you and partner.
Look under the ground on your parcel, especially the zero point since stuff can appear there.

Are there still buildings/structures left over from old partner on the parcel?
Turn on Highlight Transparency, take a walk around to look for invisible prims.

Delete the Calling Card since most of us forget they're there in that folder.

Does old partner have access to your parcel or security orb?

He'll give up once you don't respond anymore, isn't the Mute option great?

I've done that... sometimes, I am in a strange mood and when people buy my stuff I just refund it. Is that so bad? :D

No, hun, I told you I'd *seen* you at Bad Girls once when your name came up on my Mystitool----as did the name of everyone else who was in the room at the time. Mystitools tell their owners who is within chat range. No tracking involved.

(Yes, yes I know. I usually detach the Mysti in those situations, sooner or later.)

Uh, good, 'coz those are public places. :) If you're gonna dance nude at Bad Girls, you should assume you'll be seen.
