Well, most Dancers I know use Chimeras, but my DJ friends use Dance Balls.. Is there truely a better one? I use a Dance Ball, but am thinking of deleting/selling the 350L thing because it's more annoyance than it's worth.

Which one do you use, and why? Would there be a better one to hold 20+ dances? The one I got now really likes Dance 0 and always does a round before switching to another dance, which gets old really fast.

Unrelated - How would one go about stopping the 'typing' animation? It's cute, but sometimes it just gets on my nerves =x

Re: stopping the typing animation - Go to the Client or Advanced Tab (depending which viewer you are using). It is at the top of your screen. If you don't see it, press Ctrl + Alt + D (I think, please someone correct me on this if I'm wrong as I'm not in world right now).

Click the Client/Advanced Tab and click on the Debug option. A little box appears with a blank line to type. Type in "Playtypinganim" and a box will pop up. Change the TRUE to FALSE and "voila!" no more typing animation or sound. If you *do* want to turn it back on, just repeat the process and choose TRUE. :)

Is this for personal use, or do you need others to be able to 'use' your dances?
If it's just for you, you'd be better off just buying some single dances and adding them to your Animation Overider, (Abranimations, Sine Waves).
I don't often use AOs, except for walking, so I hope someone else chimes in.

I use a Huddles..........the cheaper one (there are two models.......the bigger model has gestures too). I know it will hold at least 15 dances but pretty sure it will hold many more. Easy to use, can invite others to dance on it and very easy to add dances to.

Hmm.

I'd like it to allow at least 20 others to join. Rarely with that many people, but never hurts to have extra room. Seen one by Intra that it really nifty - Has a screen to let you choose the dances before you start dancing. The price at 500L is a tad much, but worth it if it works good.

Think I'll look up the ones mentioned here later and see what they have to offer.

Also, Czari - Thank you tons! That worked perfectly =)

yes so far huddles is about the best that i have seen and used..they will hold tones of dances.i've put as many dances as i have wanted in one..i have all the sine wave dances since they have opend..
i'm using the deluxe huddles..it's 1400L you can also copy it and put in even more..
i use 3 on my screen to make it easier to switch when doing sync..
the dances show up like channles on a remore..you don't have to scroll and there is no waiting for a blue drop down menu..
so the dances are right there the whole time..
if you fill one page of dances it will just add another page .there is an arrow to flip to the next page of dances..
there is a ton of things you can do with the huddles deluxe..
most of the dancers i have met use them or did when i was dancing..

also adding people to dance with you..i haven't found it's limit on it yet but i'm not sure on how many you can add..i'll look in the note card

You can sync up to 50 dancers on the deluxe HUDDLES and it comes with a dance ball if you prefer that method.

The dancer number defaults to 10, but she tells you hoe to 'hack' it on her site.

I have to say that I never thought about that... When I'm dancing at clubs I find anoying when I simply can't stop to dance... So if I get an empty AO (I have a couple of them) and put some dances on the standing and then if I turn off my walking AO and turn on this dance AO it will work almost as a personal chimera? lolol

I'm not an expert on the subject, but I don't believe a standard AO has the correct scripts for that.

Many AO's have notecard configurations with multiple stand poses in one notecard (And similar things).

If you put dance anims into it, and then make the multiple stand pose entries into those dance anims, you will rotate through the dances.

That occurred to me, but I was thinking more of the HUDDLES set up, which does use a separate script to animate dances. Using an AO just seems clunky and harder to control.

I use something like this:

http://www.slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=321682

It is so simple...I just go into my inventory, right click and play in world. No balls, but also no partners.

My Chimera is one of my earliest L$ buys and one of my favorite toys. I'm adding a dance every 2 weeks to it and my Sine Wave dances are almost ready to outnumber my freebies. It's probably the most expensive thing I have in my inventory, looking at what I've loaded it with. (^_^)

But... it's pretty much my Bring-Your-Own-Dances device. Most of the places I go have their dance balls either loaded with freebies or the raunchiest "crawling all over the floor" anis available. Since I almost never go big, I picked out dances that fit my style with just a little raunch mixed in. And, if anyone clicks my head, the synch makes for a fun time too. (^_^)

Heh... one time... for a real laugh, I had all 8 dance slots full and synced on Carameldansen. That was a BLAST!!! \(^_^)/

i prefer dance balls.

someone invited me to use their chimera, or click on their head, or whatever to dance at a club once. which i did. and it was fine. but i could NOT STOP. stopping all animations didnt work, etc etc. clicking her head again didnt work. i had to log off to quit.

dance balls, you just click again and they stop you.

Most welcome :) That was a Torley Linden tip of the week awhile back. Prior to that I had a typing overrider in my ZHAO, but I LOVE being able to switch back and forth with the Debug menu. :)

I have several freebie Chimeras....different dances for different moods (one with nothing but 4 Flamenco dances)....and I wear mine on my butt...love having my friends touch my rear to dance with me...

When I die in SL, I want to have a headstone..with a chimera floating above the spot where my butt would be if I was in the ground..on my headstone? 'Touch the butt if you want to dance."

Bloodsong - I've gotten that issue with Dance Balls before, too, unless I'm wearing it to take it off. Think it might just be a regular bug of sorts, an annoying one at that =p

Hmm.. I managed to snag myself a free Chimera to try out since it does sound rather cool. I have all the dances that I'd want to use, except one that I can't find, so buying something with pre-loaded dances would be more hassle. Besides, I seem to have most of the "Pre-Loaded" dances, lol.

Thank you all =)
