What happens when you abandon land? I have two small parcels I need to get rid of, but I don't want some ad farmer plucking them up at L$0, since they shara a border with land that I am keeping.

Any advice?

Set them at just below the base price. Don't abandon them. Get some of your money back.

I believe if land is abandoned, it is given back to Linden Labs which will turn around and (eventually) auction it off.

If you abandon it, it becomes owned by Govenor Linden, I believe. And then it'll go for auction. The person who buys it, whether at auction or from you, could cut it into 16m plots, but the chances are that that won't happen.

before abandoning, if you are willing to take a low price, offer it to a forum member.

PM me the location.

If you abandon them they will still end up back on the market. Gov Linden won't hold them forever.

I would try IMing your neighbors in the sim. If you are willing to sell them cheap, or even give them away, your neighbors might like picking up an extra prim or two and keeping ads out of the sim. (If you do this be sure to set the parcels for sale to them specifically, NOT for sale to anyone.)

Have you contacted the neighbors who border it? Maybe they would be interested in picking it up at a very low price. Be worth it, I would think, to avoid the chance of getting a new obnoxious neighbor.

Yes the Land bots will buy it up if you set below mainland market rate....not sure where one gets that daily info from, but Raymond Figtree seems to keep up to date with these things....he might be able to help you.

They'd never sell. One is 384 square meters. The other is 32 square meters. It was oddly shaped land and I had to cut those bits off. Not something anyone would want, except to put up ads, unfortunately.

if you can't sell it, donate it to the arbor project so ad farms dont' pop up.

If anyone in your sim needs extra prims - they would definately want them - doesn't matter if it is touching their parcel or not. The prims pool in the same sim

I had asked around in the sim--no takers.

If I donate to the arbor project, would I still have to pay the tier?

Werner, I crashed and don't remember your full name. Ping me again in-world.

I agree with contacting your neighbors to see if they want them. Some people might want the 70 something prims that would come with 384m. I have about 450m tier that I'm not using right now and would love it if someone in my sim offered a parcel that size...I could get more prims and not go up a tier level.

Ok so neighbors do not want. If you do abandon it, won't the governor take a long time before putting it up on auction? So it would be considered "maintenance land" for quite a long time, right? That would be good too, put some trees on there and make it pretty before you abandon it.

The Lindens tend to leave build on with a longish return (half an hour or so) on maintenance land, so far as I've seen. I have also seen them not clear the land when they take it over, tho I do see a lot of completely empty maintenance land too. So, if you abandon it, maybe you should fill its prim count completely first, so no one leaves a box that rezzes new objects every 15 minutes on it.

Good time for a reposting of the two nevers:

Never set your land to "anyone" unless your really want anyone to be able to buy it. Even if the person you intend to sell it to is standing right next to you and there is no one else on the sim. Landbots are faster than humans.

Never abandon land. Instead, set your land for less than .1 per meter below the lowest listing on the For Sale Mainland page. (For example, if the first listing is selling for L$4.1, set yours for L$4.0 a meter. It will sell in minutes).

No. They have the tier within the group to absorb donated land.
