Has any one seen old dances?

I bought a lovely harpsichord from MadameThespian's Collection - it would be wonderful to have a nice Minuet or otherwise appropriate dance to go with it. I suppose a waltz would work- but would prefer a minuet... any suggestions? Thank you.

Ohhh, that sounds lovely, Amaranthim...will be keeping an eye on this thread if anyone has seen these dances.

Ok - give me time guys! Old fashioned waltz is on the way. Don't think I know the steps to the minuet though - have to research those.

It's amazing what the animators can do!

When I get a mo, I'll come and listen to your harpsichord, if I may. Like to hear what you will be dancing to.

I did a quick google for Minuet and found some descriptions and a few videos from Baroque Dance Companies. It's very complicated and there are a number of different forms of the dance!

I suggest you take a quick look on U-tube and check that what you thought of as a "Minuet" is the same thing.

I'll try and do a bit more to the waltz today and think about the Minuet.

Did some research...

I did some research back last week, and i can tell you that only about 3 animators in SL have attempted waltzes and/or ballroom animations. Apparently they don't realize how much of this activity goes on all across the grid (and especially Caledon). I looked into it because i'm holding a Spring Cotillion this weekend which really requires this style of dance.
If *anyone* finds or makes more of these besides Bits n Bobs that are as good of quality, i beseech you to post it here please! :)

This is where my land is, in Misto Presto- the harpsichord is up in the Tree House- any and all welcome :)

Ohh, that is so sweet of you to offer. I will have to come take a listen. I LOVE harpsichord music. (In addition that it reminds me of the "Addams Family :p)

Yes - I did see that one! Need a simplified version to fit into the SL 30 sec animation limit time. But if I can get the little step right, I think it will be easier than the waltz because it is not so critical on positioning since the dancers dance side by side and do mirrored movements.

There is a reason for that - it is very difficult to do and it takes a long time.

Deira was kind enough to get me a trial waltz that I need to set up- was afraid to last night with all the crashing going on. So hope I can do it tonight. Don't miss exploring the green temple building and the the little reef on the other side of the fire pit. There are some nice surprises on the land - and yes - it is furry friendly :)

Deira, I found this interesting site:

http://www.archive.org/details/danceman010

It has a wealth of information - not just visuals but audio as well. To view the file at the above addy you will need a djvu extension file viewer. You can get a free download of that at: http://www.lizardtech.com/download/dl_download.php?detail=doc_djvu_plugin&platform=win

Worth it just to see the old book :)
