Odd texture issues
Milla Alexandre Milla Alexandre Join date: 22 Jan 2007 Posts: 1,759	01-01-2008 09:57 I was trying to help a noob last night and she had some issues that totally stumped me....so i figured I'd ask you guys.... Firstly....she is running SL with minimal memory...so perhaps this is part of her problem...but what she described....her friends validated....so if they are seeing it too...it's very puzzling. Firstly....her clothing appeared to 'shrink' after she teleported. I went over all the basics.....rebake and editing appearance...... but none of those things solved her problem. She said her shape got completely messed up so she bought a new one (ok, possibly clothes are looking different.....but a long shirt is a long shirt on any avatar) Anyway... she was not only missing items....but again, the clothing she had been wearing was suddenly appearing too small for her avatar.....her long shirt....was suddenly short. This makes no sense at all to me.....but after a lengthy conversation, covering all the possibilities and common glitches in SL...nothing seemed to explain why a long shirt would suddenly appear short. Is is possible that her limited memory and g-card would effect textures this way? And again... how can it be that others are also seeing the same odd alterations??? I'm stumped and I tried so hard to help her. She did say she was going to log on to her husbands computer (which was better) to see if the same issues were present or not. Any thoughts????

The info in the Help / About Second Life for her system at the top of the display would be a useful starting point. It would look something like this: From: someone CPU: Intel Pentium 4 (Unknown model) (3200 MHz) Memory: 1007 MB OS Version: Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (Build 2600) Graphics Card Vendor: ATI Technologies Inc. Graphics Card: RADEON X800 Series The shirt problem might be that the long shirt is actually two pieces, a shirt and a jacket or a shirt and a skirt , and what she is calling a short shirt is just one part of a set. (I did tell her how to get her specs, but unfortunately I didn't copy her info on to a notecard to refer to) Anyway..... I'm sure it will get sorted out.
