Hi, all! I have a small amount of lindens which I want to get rid of since my usage of SL is next to none.
However, the system tells me that I can only sell 0 lindens per day. I have a free basic account. Appreciate any help.

Your account has to be 14 days or older to be able to sell $L.

It *used* to be based on account age, but that's no longer the case. Now no one can sell Lindens until 14 days after they've paid LL directly for something. This includes membership fees, tier, and the fee on Lindex purchases. Generally, the easiest way to get your trading limits moving is to buy a couple USD worth of Lindens from the Lindex and then wait...which sort of sucks if all you're wanting to do is sell what you already have.
Alternatively, you can safely sell via SLExchange, but I believe they have a waiting period as well if you've never transacted with them.

They changed the rules a few months ago. Now the 14-day clock does not even start until you pay some money into LL. Since you are leaving the game, the best way to start the clock is by buying a small amount of lindens on the Lindex (like $1). Then, 14 days later, you will be able to sell lindens. Do keep in mind, though, that exchanging money costs money. About 30 cents of your 'buy' transaction will go to a non-refundable fee, and when you sell you will be charged a 3.5% fee. There is also a fee to cash out your US$ balance (have the money sent to you): $1 for paypal, $10 for U.S. check, $15 for a check outside the U.S. If the amount of lindens that you want to dispose of is small, perhaps this is more trouble and fees than it's worth. In that case, you could just give it to a friend, or make the day of a nice newbie. ETA: That darn Ann, always typing answers faster than me!

Found a little print that says it right before the trading limits chart. "Days" in the New Resident limits description refers to days since first billing transaction with Linden Lab."

From: Alicia Sautereau just use /me grumbles, so much for the [urls] to be working again... When you put them in IMG tags, it works for some people, but COMPLETELY hides the URL from others... it just shows as a missing image. It's probably just best to leave them normal (let the system put the URL tags around it), and let the viewer use the greasemonkey Firefox script if they want their links linkable.

Thank you for the link!
If I close my account BEFORE I sell the lindens, will I forfeit this money or it will be credited on my card on file?

They won't credit it to your card under ANY circumstances...the options are PayPal or check only. Blame the credit card companies for that one, not LL.

Also keep in mind that there is no reason to actually CLOSE the account. It's free. Most people just leave them open when they leave. (Do delete any payment info you entered, though, just to be safe. You do that by starting the process to enter a new payment method, but don't complete it.)
