Can anyone explain why lately so many venues are listing their events twice in events, just with different titles?
I though this was not allowed and am wondering why they do that and why is LL not actually living up to (see below)
"SPAM (multiple events posted in a single day that do not comply with the rules above) WILL NOT BE TOLERATED and will be SUBJECT TO DISCIPLINARY ACTION. Please do not use the Events calendar in any way which would inhibit its usefulness to the community at large. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in a SUSPENSION OF YOUR ACCOUNT. "
I noticed certain venues do this regularly and keep doing it..At first, I thought perhaps just miscommunication about who lists, thereby resulting in two listing.. but...it seems to be the same places over and over...
It is frankly unfair to others who actually agree when they hit agree....
I honestly don't think anyone monitors these....

sometimes i think its just miscommunications. i will often post an event for my place, not realizing the musician has also posted it, and vice versa, sometimes i post for my musician not realizing the club he's playing at has already posted it.
another thing that has happened to me a few times is that when i hit 'post' nothing happens, i think it hasnt gone thru and i do it over only to see it has posted twice in events.
this may explain SOME of it.

From: Tarina Sewell I honestly don't think anyone monitors these.... This is probably the answer. They don't have the manpower to police the listings (and besides, that's boring) so it's probably left up to the public to file ARs and hope that LL reads them and does something about it. -Atashi

Tarina, maybe I can answer this for you. Each AV is allowed to post 5 events per day. The titles are changed because of how the search engine works to find these events. Here is the direct quote from the events site:
"You may currently post up to 5 events per day (including event edits)."

I have not used events in over a year to find anything good to go to - its pretty much useless now. If I were holding an event I doubt I would even post it there - it would just get lost in the noise.

Usually the 'event' is something like "Hi, come see our new stuff!" in 2 hour blocks all on the same day.

Just don't post the same parcel in Land Sales/Rentals and Property Sales/Rentals. A certain Linden (who will not be named) will get all over your case, despite the fact that the other forums are always getting double (or more) posted (shopping and new products for example). Don't ask me how I came by this information

But normally its the same places over and over and the same listing names... ; ( I use events to search for classes and live music, I wish I could join every group for every musician I like but... I can't... I dont know of another way to search for these types of events...

Most event listings I see are either "earn lindens now" or freebie malls or shops. Rarely do I see any good, original, actual events listed anymore.
No one monitors it. the same people ahve spammed it for 2 years that I've been in SL.
