hi all

i wanted to change clothes . from pants and shirt shoes ex.... to just swimming trunks. and no matter what i do to take off the pants .. im solid white from the waste down.??? i know how to change i have done it hundreds of times. so i dont know if its just sl or something i can do to fix it.. i did a rebake and tryed to take the clothes off and on..i drag the swimming trunks to me and solid white...its like my character was dipped in white paint from the waste down.. i can how ever put the pants back on and everything is fine. but i go to take off pants and instead of flesh tone im solid white . just from the waste down

It's probably a driver issue.

What kind of video card do you have and what version is your video driver?

What version of SL?

If you have the Palletized Textures option, try turning it off.

That's Control Alt F7, or Advanced Rendering Features Palletized Textures.

I've noticed recently that sometimes I can see flesh tones and sometimes I can't on avatars The same avatar in the same costume was all grey from the waist down and the upper body wasn't rendering correctly either, then later on she was normal, then grey again, then normal again an hour or so later.

ok i tryed turning off palletized textures and nothing happened.. im currently dl the latest drivers witch are 180 version so i hope that is it

You might need to clear cache and rebake your character to see the effect of turning palletized textures off.

If you haven't cleared your cache, try that.

One should always clear their cache when there's a problem with the SL display.

Clear cache, do Advanced, Character, Character Test, Test Male or Test Female, clear cache, rebake. Something like that.

What version of SL are your using?

Don't forget to uninstall the current driver before you install a new one.

You may end up needing to install a 175 version nVidia driver.

ok .. strange i had a friend come visit me and he told me i look white from the waste down also.. some thing else strange is i have a tv in my house and when i turn it on u can hear sound but the screen on tv is green.. and he said he can hear sound and also he can see the picture. so it sounds like my pc . i will try to update drivers

Note that the latest drivers aren't always the best.

175.19 - a bit earlier than the driver you mentioned - works best for many people.

Also note that the Palletized Textures setting is NOT remembered from session to session. So, you need to turn it off every time you log in. And you do need to rebake your character textures after turning it off.

the reason he sees you the same way, is because when your system bakes your character, it bakes it incorrectly thus displaying it to the SL world incorrectly

if you follow the steps outlined above then all should be well

(if you do not have the advanced menu open it is ctrl alt shift D (or ctrl alt D will work for some folks)

once you memorize the keyboard shortcuts it is very quick to turn off the palatized textures and rebake

ctrl alt F7
then ctrl alt R
(sometimes one has to hit ctrl alt R a couple times)

the grey issue sounds like things are just slow rezzing for you.

the version of sl is 1.21.6 i guess i could try the other driver 175 but it never was a issue before and my friend said i look white from the waste down also.. so i dont know what to think ...

i just cleared cache again then turned on and off pattleized and rebaked a few times like u said and it worked

it is an annoying bug, glad you got it working properly

just remember, as already mentioned, that each time you log in, you will have to do that ctrl alt F7 then ctrl alt R

it becomes second nature after awhile

I don;t understand why this bug is taking so long to fix, whatever it is... People all over the grid are suffering.. Spending lots of money to look nice and why bother?
I think someone somewhere should fix this. And not just a temp fix I am tired of the work around pallatized textures, rebake.. every single time I log or have to relog for a crash.. and that does not help much cause I crash usually faster when I do that. I've done the rollback of drivers and I've installed new ones.. and still every time I MUST do this or my shoes come to my waist. Annoying as hell I tell you.
