Not so much numner of logged in accounts, but load on the asset servers. If they are getting screwy, you don't want to add more avatars, regardless of how many or how few are on the grid right at that moment.

For a moment I got the grid unavailable message when I tried checking my account. Hmm...

They did a rolling restart on half the grid yesterday and the remaining half today.
This week has been remarkably uneventful except for yesterday and today for a short while, just connect the dots . |

Haha - I am PIOF but not premium. I did make two transactions that poofed the money and poofed the item as well, just before I crashed. Oh well *shrugs philosophically* Gonna sleep and all will be back to normal tomorrow

I *really* think it is time to get rid of the bots that hammer the asset servers.
And the camper-avatar crowds that all mindlessly and dutifully request the assets of anything that comes near. * * * * * If we can't break 60k people online without throttling, growth is killed. From a business perspective technically-stalled growth pushes, nay, shoves your customers into the arms of competition. What do we tell new residents - bugger off, we've got a landbot to serve assets to? _____________________

Wow. I think that's the most critical post I've ever seen Desmond make.

Not guilty! Today is the first day RL hasn't logged in to MEEE for ages!

Spot on Desmond.
WTF do we need campers for anyway? I would have thought the aggregated cost of keeping a camper avie (in terms of energy consumption) running is higher than the L$ you make in that time so why even bother? |

I'll sign that petition! I'll even go back to Premium if it will make it happen. _____________________

Differentiating between resident types for priority access is only a temporary solution, at best.
Is 60,000 the permanent ceiling on current logins that Second Life will ever be able to accommodate? If so, that does not sound like much of a prospect for growth. We've been hitting the 60,000 mark frequently for about three months now, at least, haven't we? I should confirm that before guessing. It seems to me though that Linden Lab has had quite a while to contemplate how it will deal with 60,000 concurrent logins, and to anticipate future growth. |

Yikes! Did you get in Quaintly? Nope lol. I tried three times, first two times said "Login failed", the third time I got the message above. So I gave up and went to bed. ![]() |

Desmond - As a SIGNIFICANT landholder in SL, have you considered having a little chat with the Lindens at an office hour about this topic? Surely, all that money you pay out monthly has to have some voice! _____________________
