Issues with latest client build

For some reason I've not yet figured out, the latest client build insists on opening and keeping open a console log window when it is running (on Windows Vista). I tried adding a -noconsole parameter in the startup shortcut but the console remains. Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

(The first time I installed the new viewer, by the way, on a mandatory update to the Windlight firstlook, it installed it as a release candidate. So I removed both the Windlight and the old version of the standard viewer and re-installed the current version. Seems like something is still screwed up though.)

It's good to include version names and numbers with questions such as this.

On the Client or Advance menu, depending on what version you are using, there is an option for Console Window near the bottom, about 4 from the bottom on the version I am looking at.
