Why can't I delete old profile picks?

Am I doing something wrong? It is just a bit embarassing for screwed up edits to stay in ones profile after deleteing (multiple times), all I could figure to do is blank the picture and change the title. I am choosing the pick and using the delete key provided on that page to delete it, it looks like it's gone but the next time I check my profile there they are again. I signed off and flushed my cache, no joy. ::sigh::

silly question, but...

did you click "save" at the bottom left of your profile before closing the profile?

This gets me every time, it's not silly at all :o

While we're on the subject, does anyone know if there's any way to re-order your picks exactly the way you want? I assumed they were ordered chronologically newest on top ... but no ... alphabetically ... nooo ... hmm.

Mine seem to be arranged alphabetically. Try putting little characters at the front of your top picks - !@#* - whatever you like best, in order of the corresponding numbers - and those will go right to the top.

Picks are alphabetical unless you have some sort of symbol preceding the title/location. Like, if you put an asterisk at the beginning, that pick will be pulled to the top of the list.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Or you can use numbers.

I use both actually.

asterisks for my high priority pics, and then I use numbers for favorite locations in SL

hmm... I don't have a "save" just an "ok". I have been using Nicholaz' client forever (currently BE-v) It is saving all my screw ups just fine with an "ok" ! LOL, I'll try the SL client. Thanks.

The edit: I just switched to plain vanilla SL, it also has an "ok" instead of a "save" but it does actually save properly, the deleted files are gone :)

It is sort of alphabetical. Every character has a number. Space is 32 and it the first printiable character. ! is 33. That is why you see a lot of things in search that start with ! and then a lot of spaces.
A = 65
B = 66
blah blah
Z = 90
[ = 91
\ = 92
more blah
a = 97
b = 98
etc ..

More geeky goodness :)
Hold down the <Alt> key and type the number "3" on the keypad. (it muct be the keypad on the side, not the munbers across the top) and this will give you ASCII characer with the value 3. You can do this for any number between 0 and 255. 0 is the null character, tho, so nothing will happen. You will also hit tab, backspace, carrage return, line feed, and a few others. Enjoy. ♥♥♥ :)

I use the upper ASCii numbers in circles, which gives it a bit of a slick look, I tink.

Try clicking on another one of your picks, or on another profile tab even, after you edited one, then click OK
Somehow that seems to work for me when my profile is being stubborn and doesnt want to accept my changes.

there is a known bug that will not allow you to save picks when the client is in admin mode. turn off admin mode.

Now here's a question...

We now know that the more people that have a store in their picks now affects how that store will come up in the general search. So, I'm wondering if you have a store in your picks and you put an asterisk or a number or other symbol before their name, does that affect whether your listing them helps them in search? It may affect your decision to do so.

Where's Phil when you need him?

The last I heard, renaming the pick basically broke the inbound link for that place.

So if someone is trying to promote a store they really like then they would be doing it a disservice by making adjustments to put it at the top. Better to leave it alone.

If they are trying to get their personal picks, friends, loved ones and such at the top then it doesn't really matter.

Changing the link name or description hurts the intended store when looking for certain keywords. Let's say you're at a resort that you like with your partner. You make a pick on their land, and change the details to some love poetry. The inbound link helps, but is not as helpful as it could be because you took away the relevant keywords.

Wow... I have never once been able to delete a pick, in the over 18 months I've been in SL it had not worked once. *THAT* is the fix?

*headdesk*

Okay, thanks very much for that info. Seems like if that is the resolution then LL coulda knocked out that bug a year ago, but it's great to have a workaround!
