I've noticed that the old 16m plots around the grid are mostly empty, and some are currently cheap. I see the occasional ad for a mall or whatever, or a box with contents that's for sale and I've been wondering what's OK these days for advertising? I've bought a few plots recently, put a couple of alpha arctic animals on the 16m plot and a note card giver with a landmark to my main-store. It doesn't really look like advertising, but since I didn't want to be in violation, I wanted some input from others who are advertising their stores still, or know a little more about the current ad policy.

I only have a couple plots, all in different sims and none with obvious advertising. You'd have to walk up and touch my note card giver to get a landmark, but I do have hover type that says to touch for landmark to main store.

You can place proper ads on them, but only one per sim, and not more than 8m high.

An advertiser can still have up to 50 of these scattered around the mainland, with a little pile of restrictions. The conditions are in the blog, but the conversion broke the original link (in true LL fashion!) so here is the new link.

Possibly the larger challenge is to create an appealing representation of your brand within the confines of a microparcel, given their unsavory reputation. The actual limits are pretty liberal for anyone with reasonable taste. (Theoretically, the limits only apply to "network advertising," but practically speaking, pretty much anything on a microparcel is going to be covered by the limits, I think.)

From the blog post Viktoria cited:
* Adverts should be grounded to the terrain, not floating.
* Adverts should extend no higher than 8m from the ground.
* No rotating, no flashing content and no particles.
* No unsolicited dispensing of IMs, notecards, landmarks or content.
* No light sources or glow (full bright is acceptable however).
* Advertising hoardings should be Phantom.
* Adverts must be clearly PG in nature.
* No sound and no temp-on-rez content.
* Ban lines should be switched off.
