Abuse Reports now sent to sim owners versus LL ?

I recently attempted to file an Abuse Report and received a message that the report would go to the sim owner versus directly to Linden Labs. Can anyone point me in a direction where I might find more information on this? Such as why the change was made, what the sim owner has to do to start / stop this process? I appreciate your response.

It's an option offered to private island owners, I believe.

I think that was announced here: http://blog.secondlife.com/2007/04/20/introducing-estate-level-governance/ .

IIRC, LL will always get _all_ abuse reports. The difference is that they also go to the estate manager on private islands that have enabled the estate-level-governance option.

Yeah, private islands only - mainland ARs still go to LL.

So is that why over the last 3 weeks, I have filed two AR's AND opened a support ticket (which LL closed as resolved.. ha!) regarding an ILLEGAL casino that is STILL operational. Filled with machines that were banned and against the gambling TOS??

Unbelievable that in 3 weeks it is still there and these machines are being played on a daily basis. Any suggestions on what additional action I can take then?

I wasn't aware this had been in place since 2007, it seems to have been something that was just recently added. Either that or the hundreds of ARs I have filed have been in places where this was not setup.

Thanks !

Very strange. On my private sims, there's a place to add my e-mail address to receive ARs, but then in the box it says "Feature Unsupported." Is this working despite that statement? I would love to get copies of ARs filed on my sims.

The feature has not worked, as far as I am aware. There is no way for the sim owner to enter an e-mail for the report to go to. Maybe they finally fixed it in this latest server code release?

LL still monitors all AR's and if something illegal like a casino is AR'ed, they are supposed to step in on it anyway. But they may wait a bit to see if the sim owner acts first.

Well in this case, the sim owner IS the casino owner. You'd think LL would be all over it. Oh wait... this is SL, nevermind. ;)

No, the development is officially on hold (sadly). But there was a very short time (a few days I think) when it really worked, and estate owners that put in their mail addy during that time still get the ARs.
