Hey, I'm trying to stream music to my land. I've been told it can been done for 100% free using Winamp/Shoutcast and Shoutcast Server. I've downloaded all 3 but can't seem to get it working.
I've rented a 3 Day stream from Project X to see if I could get that working, and that was fine.
Can anyone help me set up the Shoutcast SOURCE thing (In prefs), where you connect to the SC server?
Thanks.

If I am understanding you correctly, you have installed the Shoutcast SERVER software on your PC and you want to use that stream music to SecondLife users? Can I ask.... How much bandwidth do you have from your PC to the Internet? Also.. do you have a dedicated IP address through your Internet service provider? A Shoutcast Server is just like other Internet Servers.. such as a webserver, ftp server.... it has to be available to the public via the Internet. When you are streaming music to listeners on your parcel.. you are not streaming to SecondLife...setting the media settings for your parcel only points your listeners to a streaming SERVER on the Internet. They are actually grabbing that music directly from the Shoutcast/IceCast server. So.. can your PC (provided you have the aforementioned setup) and your bandwidth handle the number of connections you are going to need? Let's say you have 10 people on your parcel.... each of those people will be pulling the data stream from your Shoutcast server. If one song is 3MB times 10 people... that's 30MB bandwidth for that one song. Since you say you can rent a stream and it works fine... then your issue is with the server. Here's a link to the Shoutcast Server Setup instructions: http://shoutcast.com/download/serve.phtmlWhere even they say you are going to need a dedicated computer.. and TONS of Bandwidth. Your best bet would be to continue renting a stream from a Shoutcast Server provider.
