[UPDATE] Temporarily Reduced Services In World Friday, April 11th, 2008 at 12:27 PM by: Teeple Linden [12:50 PM Pacific] In addition to the reduction of services outlined below, Operations will be immediately disabling the following services for at least 30 minutes:
Logins Lindex In-world transactions, Portions of Website functionality, including access to account pages. We’ll keep you updated every 30 minutes at most on this, and announce a return to service ASAP.
In order to increase overall stability of the grid today during peak usage hours, our operations team has disabled a set of in world functions to reduce overall database load and create a more reliable experience for everyone. As a side effect of these temporary changes, some group and avatar profile services will not be available.
OK so sl becomes a 3d chat room during peak times?...................

That, and the previous message from Teeple, made me laugh like a loon.
I fully expect the next update from Teeps will say "alrighty folks, you can log in, but you'll only be able to stand still on one spot, not talk to anyone, spend any money or go anywhere. Just stare at the pretty Windlight sunsets until tomorrow, when you won't be able to log in at all."
I have that Friday Feeling...anyone else getting that..?

And disabling logins will of course reduce the strain on the servers. *snort* Way to improve the "busy times"...

Dammit - if they are going to constantly reduce services to such a drastic level every darn day, the least they could do is make sure the rest of this freakin world works during that time. They take all of those services away and I still cannot do anything inworld except Chat. Hell, there are a thousand places I can go if chating is all I want to do.

Some experience. If you can even get inworld you can't do anything.

In any other walk of business repeated and scheduled reduction in services would give rise to a reduction in fees charged - after all, are we not paying a fee for a service provided, oh I forgot, they changed the TOS at some point where the world can be pulled from our feet at anytime and in order to deal with our in world business we had no choice but to agree to new TOS in order to just login... <insert huge sigh here> ... pay the money, waive your rights, live with the subsequent software failures...

I am sorry, Linden how does not allowing anyone to log in help with anything.
I sure hope this doesn't become a "normal" way of reducing server strain....

From: LittleMe Jewell They take all of those services away and I still cannot do anything inworld except Chat. Even chatting hasn't worked terribly well for me the past few days. It's rare but some IMs will go offline instead... it's not always obvious you're missing an IM and the person typing it has no idea it went offline. It's always "fun" to log on the next day and see a bunch of offlines... "oh!... what he/she said make a lot more sense now" .

its totally laughable weeks of transaction errors, my store offline most of last night and evening and tonight this!! what a way to stop overload -disable everything; i couldnt even redeliver an item someone didnt get cos profiles dont come up . Im not sure its worth paying for classifieds anymore - IF search worked IF someone can tp theyre faced with paying for an item that often doesnt get delivered. Well i guess theyve succeeded Im sure many wont bother trying to log back on today

I changed my basic account to premium just a couple of days ago but if they keep going like this for the next days i will change it back to a basic account. Im not willing to pay for a service that i cant use even if its just for a couple of hours. I have to work and because of that i have very few time for my SL-Wife and this is the second time that i didnt see her at all because i wasnt able to login. Unfortunatly i have to say that this side of SL really starts to annoy me.
