There are so mant malls around SL that the competition is strong.
Filling a mall with renters is 1 thing; keeping them is another and much harder thing.

I hear many mall-owners complaining that renters are leaving their mall because they have no sales.
Of course the better your stuff is the better you will sell but also the number of visitors to the mall is a very important part of it.

Besides advertising, i think events are an important part of getting the mall known and attract more visitors.
But, what events do you think suit a mall best ...?

Hi Ron,

Just a thought....... but you could contemplate putting some live music on. Depending on the musicians, you could attract good crowds. It happens quite a lot actually. Either the venue is supported by the mall rentals, or the mall puts on live music to attract customers.

Just don't set the landing point too far from the music, or music fans will be outta there quickly. ;)
They don't like having to wade through endless shops to get to the music, but don't mind a few shops around to browse :)

I'll second Sally's idea for a live music event. It will be especially helpful if you get someone who attracts a large following and will promote the event. Cylindrian Rutabaga is very popular and always announces her upcoming performances in a group message.

Miles just reminded me to note that who you ask to play would obviously depend a lot on the timezone-thingy. There are very popular musicians playing in all timezones.

Music is overrated. You need to promote the products you're selling! Hold a fashions events where your tenants can each show their best products. It's low cost and attracts TONS of peeps.

It's also misuse of the events listings, unless there is actually an event with a limited duration going on :)

an underused event is a building contest...

set a theme, offer a prize, and advertise the contest.
