Deleting a Group

So I created a group and found I misspelled the name...may seem stupid but actually, I would rather just re do it and pay the fee again rather than live with the mis-spelling! I look at the Group settings but don't see how I can do it - also - there are no land held by the group in common, however, there are objects - so- if I delete the group - assuming some kind person tells me how to do it.... what happens to the stuff that is held by the group? Does it poof? Or revert tot he original owner?

And - how the heck do I delete the Group in the first place? That is actually more imortat to me than the stuff.

Are you the only member of the group? If you are, and the items are obviously set out by you, you can change what group they are out by or set it to None. If you are the only member of the group it will (someone smack me and correct me if I am wrong) dissolve on its own after a day or two. If there are members, explain the mishap, invite them to the new group and then eject them from the old until its just you and then it will dissolve.

I hope I have that right, a group needs 2 people to stay active last I heard. Good luck and careful with the next group name!

Thanks - OK - so then to be perfectly clear - eject everyone and it poofs on its own - thanks again.

One warning just to add to the record here - although it probably won't matter in this case - when a group poofs, a group with that name can _never_ be created again. Ever.

Really?! Ok, that rather stinks, but explains why a group sometimes cant be made even though it isnt searchable. Well, that and not being published etc. Thats a shame too, Im sure there are a lot of good group names that were once used, never to be used again.

OK - I swear I just saw before that I could eject people - so the group would poof - bt now can't find it....Help! again....Thanks peeps

lol Ok under the Members & Roles tab (at the top) there will be a list of your members, select a name and then the Eject From Group button will become available in the middle right side of that page. Hope that helps

Well - damn - we are all listed as owners - on purpose - so i cant seem to eject an owner...i may be destined to keep stupid name! Any work around?

Oh hmm, well, you can get everyone else to drop their owner status. They just have to go to that same page, select their name and on the bottom left section they need to uncheck the Owner box and then hit Apply for it to take affect. Once you are the only owner left you can eject them.

Or, they can leave the group on their own too.
