Private rooms

Hi there;

I'm trying to help a friend who wants to setup private rooms. She's bought the teleport that you have to pay to get access to the room. But what is it about the room that knows when your time is up. And what keeps others from enterring that room? What keeps them from teleporting into it?

If you know of a good rescource that explains this I'd love to know about it.

It all depends on the teleporter and how it was designed, I would re read the instructions and ask the creator any questions that you still may have

You'd think a pay-to-use teleporter would have also come with a corresponding security device of some kind.

As it is, you'll want to make the land this is set up on no-fly/no-script/no-object entry, to prevent flight to the private box, or the use of listening devices.

Well, one thing is to make the parcel not 'teleport anywhere' (in parcel options), this prevents people from making a LM and simply tp'ing back into the room.

No-fly only keeps people from starting to fly. If they start flying from another parcel, they can fly around all they want over no-fly land.

Wow, I'm being ignorant today -- the "no-script" has a ceiling as well, so using it to prevent flight tools won't help.

You can't stop a tp from another person IN that room. You would need a device with a sensor that is activated when the room is paid for, and kicks people out when time has expired, and kicks out unauthorized people.

Absolutely nothing unless there's a security device that punts people that didn't pay the TP fee.

There is no privacy in Second Life. Like I can turn my draw distance up to 2048 by editing settings.xml and turn off camera consraints in debug...Torley Linden blogged about that a while ago.

I can then altcam up to a skybox no matter where it is and just rightclick sit on any poseball. *poof* I'm there no TP required. =^.^=

Even if there's noone on the map in yer sim someone can altcam and watch you from 2 connected sims away and you'd never be the wiser. LOL

And no such thing as a nofly zone cuz you can just hit Ctrl-Alt-V to turn on admin options and fly anyway. Don't need to be flying before you TP into a nofly sim...just hit admin options and fly once you get there.
