Does anyone have an idea of how long it takes for abandoned land to be put up for auction? (just an average time)

There's been some abandoned land near my workshop thats been sitting there from before Christmas.

But, I think you can put in a support ticket and a Linden will go out and put it for auction if you ask.

I once sent in a ticket to buy an abandoned land that I owned 2 sides on. My request was denied, but the parcel went up for auction straight away.

Well, thanks. I've tried contacting through a ticket, but they are unable to discuss the account at all due to privacy reasons. I just sits there and looks mostly empty.

Oh....

So, you're saying that it isn't abandoned...it just 'looks' abandoned?

Thats a different story.

So..who owns it? Gov Linden or someone else? If someone else owns it, you'll have to wait until their account expires and goes into default before LL will reclaim it. If they paid a year membership in advance, you could be waiting a while.

... and yet abandoned land near my place - a sizeable quantity of it - was auctioned, sold, cut, and back on the market within a month!

Well, I know the former owner and know that she has given it up..not paid tier in 3 or more months, so thats abandoned, isen't it? She is locked out because of non-payment, but I've been in email with her. Her shops and things are still out.

Ah, no, sorry, "abandoned" is kind of a term-of-art here, for land that has already been reclaimed by Governor Linden.

It is indeed very odd that LL doesn't act when tier isn't paid. This isn't the only instance of this that I know of currently; I waited over a month for one very large case to resolve itself, then brought the matter to Jack's attention, waited another month, sent an email reminder a week or so ago... still nothing.

Maybe LL is just afraid to let residents see just how much Mainland is actually not generating tier, or maybe they just don't have a workable process for "foreclosing", or maybe it costs LL more in salaries to do the reclaiming than is covered by the auction price and ongoing tier revenue.

Sorry not to have anything more encouraging, but I don't know of anything to suggest.

[Edit: In case I wasn't clear, this refers to land that is *not* owned by Governor Linden, but for which tier hasn't been paid. In the case where the land has actually been abandoned and is owned by the Governor, it is indeed quick and easy to get it put into the Auction queue, just by filing a support ticket. Then it usually takes just a week or so for the land to appear on the Auction page.]

Twice, that an abandoned land near my land interested me, I opened a ticket asking the Lindens to put it in auction. In a matter of few days, they did it (and I've bought the two plots :))

thanks everyone for your input. I'm on pins and needles about this, and have indicated via the ticket I'm willing to buy her whole allotment in the region. I guess I'll have to wait and see what happens. Perhaps I should have gone with a private estate.
