Did ya reboot your modem/router? Yeop. No dice. Not that this should make a difference, but I did it anyway out of desperation.

Maybe it was a slow decline. I told you your face was all grey to me the last few times I saw you. Even on Saturday, at the Phoenix event, which I forgot to mention to you since you weren't there very long. Just took a while for it to catch up with the rest of your body

I noticed more ghostly apparitions over the past several days. Not sure what’s going on but that’s one of the things I like about the new Ruth is its very obvious when you have several of them floating about that there is a problem somewhere. Kinda just stands out more then the old Ruth. Ghosty, maybe try adjusting your access speed by sliding the Network slider up and down…???

Try deleting the folder with that AV's name on it within the secondlife folder that is within your application data folder.(i couldn't have typed that more backwards if i tried)
i think its(for XP) c: documents and settings /your computer user name/application data/secondlife/folder with your AVs name
that will completely reset your viewer to newbie status, which forces you to click every blue warning box again. But hopefully it will clear up any corrupt files in there.

This is mostly technical voodoo - clearing the cache when things aren't downloading isn't going to make it easier, but rather, harder, since there's more to download when there's nothing in the cache. There are two things I would suggest though: 1. Reboot your machine, preferably after running Windows Update until it can go no more. Look for newer drivers for your network card. SL generates numerous UDP connections while it works which reveals the bugs in Windows and the card drivers, which, at least for me, regularly causes packet loss and complete inability to create new connections - so, for example, I can sit around and talk but can't teleport. 2. Run a 'ping -t www.secondlife.com' before connecting and keep it running while you're inworld. I could explain why this helps, but the last time I tried I was accused of speaking Chinese - it's a complex mess of why ICMP is assigned higher priority and keeps routing tables in the intermediary routers alive, which sometimes solves the problem of intermittent connections and packet loss. This is not decisive by any means, but can't hurt. But you're not the only one having these problems, which makes me suspect it's the fault of Lindens who scheduled server replacement for this week. This involves messing with the load balancer, and load balancers are finicky things even when they work right. P.S. Oh, and one other thing - in the Debug settings, set 'ImagePipelineUseHTTP' to true. That causes your viewer to download textures by HTTP whenever they are available from the sim in this manner, which relaxes the pressure on the unreliable UDP channel that SL uses for everything.

Posting this with how it all went. At about 5:30p SLT yesterday, I finally ressed.
I went to Advanced > Character > Test Male (I imagine Test Female would have worked, too, and I'm not exactly sure that's the correct path - I dont have the client here at work to look at).
I appeared as the default newbie, and from there I could change my shape, clothes, etc. I had to do this once way back when I first started, but forgot all about it.
Punch line: three hours later I get an email from LL stating they had "resolved" my issue (I had submitted a ticket), by offering a bunch of steps I had already tried and did not work.
Just shows to go ya.

From: Ghosty Kips Great, I've only been here since May and I'm getting all decrepit. Pixel rot, the leprosy of virtual worlds. I'm sorry Ghosty, there's no cure. And it's contagious. You have to move to an isolated sim with your fellow sufferers. If anyone comes near you, you are required to shout UNCLEAN! UNCLEAN! It's in the fine print of the Community Standards.

From: DaQbet Kish I noticed more ghostly apparitions over the past several days. /me too. I don't think anything we do on our end is gonna help - this seems more like a sim/asset server issue...
