Hey eveyone. Guess I have more then one question for today.

Any one know of any Photography classes in world? even if just talking about composition and theory would be nice. I tried searching in events, but....as usual...found nothing but ads. Am slowly working into photo manipulation, but I figured it would be nice to start out with the best photo you can get.

I've never come across anything in SL like that, but then I haven't looked much.

I have a couple of websites you can take a look at. Some of the articles assume a high level of practical knowledge and some things won't translate into SL photography, but the general theories will. They both have articles for all levels, so if something gets too complicated, go to another one.
http://photoinf.com/ (look for the Composition articles by Wendy Folse to start)

For SL specific, take a look at Torley's pages, http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/User:Torley_Linden/Snapshot_tips.

I haven't seen anything like that in-world either....but as a photographer....I've found SL to be one of the best tools for practice and perfecting the basics of photography. All the rules still apply in a virtual world......subject, lighting, depth, composition, color.....and it is a lot of fun to hone your skills in SL. There's a lot to learn.....you can manipulate your environment in a way that is impossible IRL....so the potential to learn and perfect your photography is pretty great.
It might be something to pose to some of the photography groups in SL. There's a few if you search in groups....perhaps there are like minded folks who would be thrilled at the idea of setting up classes and discussion workshops. I'd suggest browsing the groups and contacting some photographers....I bet you could inspire a new trend.

There are classes in world. I had been to one quite a while ago, and it was very good but I'll be damned if I remember who ran it off hand. Some women from London. I have the information in my inventory but, can't get in right now. If you drop me an IM there to remind me, I can look it up for you.

It was a several day class I remember. Spent time with a group, going over a lot of things and she gave out a manual as well.

There are a number of very good websites that can teach the basics of composition, lighting and the like. Unlike RL photography, however, you are not learning how to manipulate a complicated technical device like a digital SLR camera (well, they're not that complicated, but they do need to be learned themselves), but instead you need to learn how to really manipulate the SL environment you are viewing through the camera controls and environmental controls, including lighting, poses, landscaping and so forth just to name a few. But the basics of composition can be learned outside SL.

That class was run by RoseLinUK London. She used to teach it at NCI, but I believe she teaches it elsewhere now. If you IM her, I'm sure she can point you in the right direction.

Yes, that is the one I attended. Very well run, and I recommend it if she is still involved.
