I now have about 10 folders in inventory that won't open. It all started last night. Anybody ever have this happen and know what to do? Now I can't open any of the FIVE new hairstyles I JUST bought from Calico Creations. DAMN SL!

First, try to clear the cache. Sometimes, there's a file in it that corrupts that leads to these kinds of issues. To do that: login screen, preferences, network, press buttons that says clear cache. Restart the client and log in.

That happens to me sometimes, but it's usually caused by lag. If things aren't rezzing properly, or I'm in an area that is experiencing a lot of lag, my inventory folders won't open. I usually tp somewhere else, or home, and find the problem has resolved.

Last night was the first time in a long time that I have had the shoes-up-my-butt problem, too... it must be a conspiracy to make us look like Ruth...

Not meaning to hijack the thread, but while we're talking folders, what would be a reason for the 'delete' options being unavailable when I try to delete a folder of stuff? (I am NOT wearing any of the items in it)

I have no idea why that happens, but it occurs in my inventory a lot, too. Usually if it's a demo I just took off, I can't delete the folder. So, I just drag it down to my trash and it goes away when trash is emptied. Solves that problem..

Another Hijack Related to Folders

I can create folders in my inventory but I don't see anyway to organize things. Under Objects I would like to have folders for parts, buildings, vehicles etc.
There doesn't seem to be anyway to do this. Folder items seem to travel to where ever they please.

"G" You can just click and drag folders around and there are sort options at the top. To create a new folder inside another, right click on it (i.e. objects" and create new folder.

When I had a RL friend and co-worker start on SL, I told her to think of her inventory as a file management system, just like any file folder system in Windows. You can make subfolders, and drag them to whichever main folder you want. Dragging items from the top of your inventory to a folder at the bottom can be a pain, though, since sometimes due to lag they end up in a folder which you didn't intend. You can solve this by going to "file" at the top of the inventory window and "new window". This will open another inventory window for you, which you can position alongside the one already open. Then you can just drag subfolders and items across, rather than up and down. For subfolders, just go to the top of the inventory window again, and "create", then "new folder". In you inventory, you will find the "new folder". You can then left click and rename, and call it anything you want. Then use the drag option as described above.

Ahhh..I didn't know that. I usually do it the hard way, use the create at the top of the window, and then drag the new folder to the main folder. Thanks for that tip!

yeah, what also makes it easier is to click on File - New Window, then you can drag stuff around and organise really easily.
