problems creating new accounts

I'm a teacher who is bringing his class into SL. A number of students here are reporting that the system won't let them create SL basic accounts because it suspects they're duplicate/second accounts.

Has anyone run into this issue? I've asked students to try different email addresses to see if that would help, but they're not having any luck. And I can't figure out how to report the problem through any of the support channels.

Much thanks!

I haven't seen that, but if they're trying to register from school, the system might be flagging it for too many creations from the same IP address.

For Basic accounts, you click the Support link at the top of one of the site pages, log into the Support Portal, choose 'Submit a Ticket,' then select the Special Questions Ticket type from the drop down. Once you've done that, another drop down will appear, which allows 'I can't create an account' as an option. Fill in the rest of the required info, submit, and wait for them to get back to you.

If you have a Premium account, you can do something similar, using the 'Technical Issue' ticket type instead of Special Questions (that's for Basic or Guest accounts) OR you can click the Solution Finder link, follow through all the steps (entering garbage if you need to in order to activate the continuation buttons), and you'll find Live Help at the end. I believe Live Help is only available during LL business hours unless you're a Concierge customer.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Many thanks Ann. I'll have the students try from another IP, if they have that option and then submit the ticket. This semester is going to be quite the adventure!

Cheers, Tim
