The friend should immediately call Billing support and have the account suspended:
Toll-Free (US/Canada) 800.294.1067 Long Distance 703.286.6277 Not sure what happens next. Most likely the friend will also want to suspend transactions on any financial services linked to the account, too, or at least talk to that service for instructions on how to proceed. |

[Edit: thinking more about this, I'm not so sure the RL financial information is compromised. Is it possible for a member to see their own financial information associated with an account? AFAIK, they can only enter new information, so it may not be necessary to contact the linked financial institution. Perhaps Billing Support can give advice about this. Also, I'm thinking now (based on the Technical Issues forum post) that maybe the friend can't be reached right now. One could contact Billing Support on their behalf--they *might* suspend the account based on a third-party report; not sure, but they probably don't want a chance of incurring fraudulent billing. The obvious downside of that is that the rightful owner had better have given valid and verifiable RL information when setting up the account, or there will be no way to establish ownership, and the suspended account will be lost forever.] _____________________

... before they do serious damage to 1st Life financial data. Please Help It is Sunday. Good luck getting in touch with the right department at Linden Lab. Maybe Live Support Chat would be a better idea given it is Sunday. Not sure if they have access to what is needed though. BTW how exactly could any damage be done to rl financial data? |
