Can anyone tell me how to make the chat bar silent? What command prevents the clack-clack typing sound? Also how do I make it say
"Lolita Morpork thinks or does this"

Pardon my goofy way of asking. :)

You can put a slash mark in front of your chat, or turn off your typing animation. To make it say So and So does this, type

/me does this action

To kill the typing animation (and sound) you need to bring up the "advanced" menu with [ctrl]+[alt]+D or [ctrl]+[shift]+[alt]+D... Then to go "Debug Settings" in that menu. The debug setting you'll be looking for is called PlayTypingAnim and you'll set it to false. Be careful though... As much as you might not like it, you'll find people start ignoring you more or chatting over you because they don't know you're typing. (=_=)

And to get the colon free text... Lead your chat with "/me" and it will come out like the example you're asking about. (^_^)y
