Ok...this is very annoying...I am starting to organize my inventory and I noticed several empty folders where clothing use to be. I had a beautiful blue gown from Blaze, one of my favorite things to wear when I attended a formal event or wedding. However, all I am left with is it's empty folder! I spent about over hour or so last night looking in every folder and box to see if it was hiding somewhere, and yes, I cleared cache and relogged about 3 different times. It's gone. But I noticed several other empty folders during my search as well. Anyone have any clues? I have discovered other missing inventory items, however, their whole folders would disappear with them.
Thanks! -Blu- (MIA)

Yes, for a few months now. And it doesn't stop at that. I have a few shops, sell some buildings, among other things. And this happened twice now. My rezzer lost pieces. And not just that one, all my backupss and variations, including my default 'open' rezzers i used to build with, also corrupted. So it is literally losing the info, assume the asset server. And this was huge, like 50% of the building is gone. So I had to refund, apologise, and remove both from my shop.

From: Blu Cazalet Anyone have any clues? Yes. SL is f..ked, and the people who make it are useless.

From: Blu Cazalet yes, I cleared cache and relogged about 3 different times. Did you actually relog into a different sim as well? (Try one of the old mainland water full sims, all the new ones are just openspaces which aren't terribly great for fetching inventory from) If the sim you're relogging into is having problems, then clearing cache and relogging onto the same sim isn't going to help that much. Also keep track of the total amount fetched at the end, if it's fluctuating across clear cache/relogs (and you didn't get new inventory ), just keep doing them until it's constant. Sorry if I just pointed out the obvious too . (Edited to add that if it doesn't come back, it's probably gone . LL does dust off the servers every now and items can come back from that - generally in a top level folder, or Lost & Found - but I'd personally leave the empty folder there for a few weeks just in case. I'm not sure you don't orphan the inventory items if you delete the folder they belonged to)

I know you say you looked in every folder (and SL does have an unnerving habit of eating inventory) but I don't suppose the dress was no-copy and you made an outfit of it? That would be enough to move it to a new folder and leave the old one empty. I'd say it was highly unlikely in this case, since you say you've checked every folder, but it's a tiny possibility.

Try deleting the cache folder altogether...clearing it doesn't actually remove all the data, some of which may be bad. For XP, it's at C:\Documents and Settings\'user name'\Application Data\SecondLife\Cache. This *should* cause the client to rebuild your entire inventory listing from the asset server.

Well, I tried that...still one empty Blaze gown folder. If anyone finds a blue Elegance Blaze gown stuck in their wall, or floor, or under the ocean somewhere...please let me know. It wasn't cheap and I love that dress! Thanks, -Blu- (On a mission)

Thanks, -Blu- (On a mission) I bet your gown is gracefully reclining on my lost Pillow Talk pillow. Sorry to hear yet another frustrating inventory loss, Blu. Sucks

Thanks, -Blu- (On a mission) Hmm... this could explain why last time I equiped my shotgun during a firefight I found myself suddenly donned in a blue blaze ballroom gown Seriously don't delete the empty folder till you really are sure it's gone and given up, I deleted some empty folders once then when I checked my trash a month later looking for food, I found the items back in the to be ditched folders.

From: Grid Status page [RECOVERED] Momentary Disruption on One Asset Server Posted by Status Desk on June 8th, 2008 at 08:14 pm PDT One of the twenty servers which provide asset management just recovered from a disruption lasting only a few minutes. It recovered while this post was being prepared. If you are having residual problems with appearance or inventory, please clear your Second Life cache (Preferences->Network) and relog.
or are you having a residual residual-problem???
