I recently purchased some land in SL. I am looking at various houses and see that they all have various footprints. How can I determine the size measurments of my land?

Turn on property lines in the view menu, stand at the southwest and northeast corners, write down the numbers in the title bar, and subtract. If you're a klutzy walker like me, you might find it easier to stick a prim at the corner and read the numbers off the edit box.

The minimum block of land is a 4mX4m square.

You can use the land selection tool to select your parcel from edge to edge. There's a little "catch" as each 4X4 block is selected. Count them, and multiply by 4.

throw some flat 10 x 10 x 0.5 prims on the ground, nudge them up to the boundary lines, which show as yellow when you select about land and work it out that way.

Stand on your land, go to the build menu, select the Land Tool, and check the "show owners" checkbox. The terrain will turn red/green to reflect the area you own. You can then use the "select land" tool to measure it - each selectable grid square is 4m*4m.

If there are a lot of prims around that block your view, you can select Client -> Rendering -> Types -> Volume from the menus to disable all prims from appearing (!!!) so you can see the land more clearly. Select the same menu option again to get them back.
