You've already seen the new Rainbow Viewer as of yesterday :). The new Cool Viewer 1.22.12.0 R11 incorporates all those features plus adds the legacy user interface many of us still prefer in its Release 11 (just in case, that's not compatible with Henri's abandoned 1.22.11.0 R11 Cool SL Viewer).

Please check out the previous Rainbow Viewer posting for new features and of course the included RELEASE_NOTES.txt for details.

You can download the latest version here:

Hi Boy,

I am dense or something. How do I get the radar pop up window? I don't see a button for it like the Emerald has.

It's in the View menu. I was not aware it is so important :). I'll add a button in the next release.

Thanx for the viewer Boy Lane but why is it that I have a beacon at every place I TP to that does not go away? There is also a nagging red circle in the mini-map that accompanies that.

Edit:

Also, is there a prim limit on "Export". It seems that some objects do not show the option for export (they are my own creations).

:-)

Thank you. I use it a bit since I can't use the mini-map to call up profiles like I do with Emerald.

I prefer your builds to Emerald. Better FPS and less buggy stuff. The most rock solid viewer since Nicholaz hung up his guns.

@Zena
You switched on some beacon, thats why it shows up also in the minimap.

For the export there is a check for owner, creator and full permissions. I know thats not the best solution but thanks to abuse and LL's ignorance to fix it in their server code there is currently no other way to implement it and be compliant with Teh Labratory's brown bag TOS.

@Jannae
It takes a lot of code to change to implement the minimap features in 1.22 code, so I think it's simply not worth the effort. You can use the radar to do the same :).

Hi Boy, I'm running a local OpenSim server and I'd like to add it to my list of grids that I can choose from the Cool Viewer login screen. I tried "local" but it didn't work.

Is there a particular file that I can edit in a text editor to modify that grid list? I'm on a Mac and have explored the app package (with "Show Package Contents";), but haven't figured out what file has that info. Thanks! :)

All the grids are in an easily editable xml file. That is app_settings/grids.xml.

OpenSim uses 2 different ports, that is 8002 for grid mode and 9000 for standalone. You probably need to change the entry for local to 9000 to get it working in standalone mode on your machine.

Hmmm, I don't have that file. I will try downloading a newer copy of the viewer and see if it shows up.

ETA: Oops, just realized that the Mac "Cool SL Viewer" is not the same as yours (which is what I use from Windows). I think my problem, though, is that I'm using a 1.19 (non-windlight) base -- this doesn't have the grids.xml file in the Mac "Cool SL" client, nor does your Rainbow 1.19 netbook client that I'm using on the Windows side. Does this file not work with 1.19 based viewers?

Thanks for the help... you're a doll! :)

Unfortunately that only works with 1.22 and 1.23 viewers. In 1.19 the grid list is hardcoded and not so easily changeable. In 1.19 "Local" doesn't point to any specific port, just localhost, and should therefore use the default port 13000.

What you can simply do is to configure your local OpenSim to either use that port (13000), or start the viewer with a commandline switch "-loginuri 127.0.0.1:9000" to use the OpenSim default port 9000.

Darn, I thought that might be the case. Oh well, I can still make a second copy of the app with the arguments file edited, so it's not a major inconvenience. Thanks for your help, Boy. :)
