HELP! I have major sections of my screen where the graphics are distorted. They are usually large and angular in shape. Anyone have the simple fix for this? I've re-set my graphics preferences to recommended settings, and it's still happening.
I have an ATI Tech - Radeon X300 Graphics card (if that helps diagnose anything).
Thanks!

specs of computer and GPU etc..
sounds like one of two issues a fried GPU or a hot and dusty one...
or a bad driver so drop the specs of all and driver version someone may have a solution, as well maybe move this or re-ask in the "technical" forum thread

Maybe if you tell us your system specs, we may be able to offer you some insight...

May help to know more about your graphics environment (text from Help / "About Second Life..." would be a clue for further searching). Do the pictures in http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-3258 look similar to the problem? Under Edit / Preferences, Graphics tab, Hardware Options: is VBO checked? If so, try turning that off. Also, if the graphics card is running hot (dust in the fans maybe), weird graphics glitches can appear.

The unchecking of the VBO and lowering the settings seems to have done the trick, although things aren't as "crisp" as they were before. I suppose I'll deal with less crisp than blotches LOL.
Thanks for all the help and the name praise hehehehe...
The people of this forum are absolutely AMAZING!!!

Woohoo unchecking the VBO setting fixed my problems too!
I recently got a bright and shiny fast new computer with an ATI Radeon HD graphics card and have been getting killed by lag ever since. I looked at the Jira that Qie recommended and some other ones and discovered that apparently lots of the ATI cards have various issues with that damned VBO thing. I unchecked the box and now I'm back moving at normal speeds again.
I wonder how many people out there have given up on SL because of the lag not knowing their problems are related to their friggin graphics card and could be fixed by unchecking one silly box?
