Hey all,

I'm putting together photos for a PhotoMania photography contest this month. Here's the theme:
>>> How far are you willing to go to see the real Second Life? How deep is the abyss? What is at the very center of Second Life? Is it bright, dark, happy, sad, lovely, beautiful, evil, ugly...so on and so forth? What is at the very bottom of Second Life to you? We want you to go there and grab us a picture and show the world what lies beneath!!!>>>

...so there's MUCH more to this theme than location, BUT...

I'd love to get some of your favorite undergrounds...mines, tunnels, dungeons, etc.

Thanks a bunch!

I nominate the Martian Caverns on Aley Arai's Privateer Space sim. A very spooky alien feel to them.

I second that emotion.

Those caves are spectacular indeed.

Also..

Berry Bazaar's Cave of Lascaux
Avaria Kro
The sewers in Nova Albion and Bay City
The cave on Livingtree (I hadda!)

Good to know there are other cavers out there! We're the explorers who are always poking around the edges of a sim, camming beneath the ground, looking for anything dark and hidden....

I've posted a small but choice collection of Caves of SL on Snapzilla. I agree wholeheartedly on Avaria Kro and Privateer Space! Also...

Surfline Hang10 Rezzable
SaarPfalz Kreiz
Cascade Rezzable (hint - it isn't an ice cave)
Ave Maria
Dive World
Templum Ex Oscurum
Aglarond

I'll post some more this evening.

A few more:

Mystica
Limbo (Wyrms)
Great Fissure and other Wasteland sims have a lot of cool underground tunnels

OH YAY :) i mineing thread :) i'm always looking for new caves to explore, how exciting, so far the caves under grendels are my fav and i'v spent many a time in the aglarond caves. i'v seen many others but none very exciting, i passed by a mine entrance in caledon once but at the time was busy so was unable to explore. never did find it again, anyone know where abouts it is? somewhere near the airfield i think.

there are also the crystal caves and drow caves in avillion there quite nice too.

/me straps on his miners belt and puts on his mineing cap ready to explore when next inworld

keep the links coming :) :)

The undersea tunnels at Dublin 3 are pretty cool.

I found a very sleazy section of tunnel that was Berlin related. Also on Svarga there is a semi-underground vault.

At my own home, the Egotherapy Centre in Yosu, I have an SL snapshot gallery in a concrete bunker under my lawn.

heh. Nothing so nefarious or interesting, I'm afraid Jax. That's actually a direct quote from PhotoMania's theme description.

But I don't doubt for a minute there will be some extremely interesting entries in this thing, don't you know?

The Fantasy Forest in Camponeschi has almost 1/2 a region of underground maze-cave area with a large underground lake. The entrance is behind the waterfall.

Meglos (Tower 6) has over 1/2 a region of sewer system under a burned out medieval city. The entrance is behind the town square and down the back road just a ways. Look for the sewer gate on the left.

i kind of like this little hole in the wall place on Morton Mains called "The Sewer". no one is ever in there, but it's fun to walk thru it. literally underground.

Jump off any ramp at Grendel's and you'll land in the sims below. The caves are under Avaria Kro. Look for sinkholes and stream entrances!
