You may have to update your video drivers, especially if you have an ATI card. If you have a low end ATI, even that may not work, as in my case, partly why I use a Non Windlight Viewer.

You've accidently hit the key combination for the advanced menu option 'show updates'
press ctrl-alt-shift-u and they sould go away for you.

The OP said "it also seems to bring the coulor out of any object nearby" suggests artifacts from a driver/settings issue. Show Upates is floating Red, Green, and Blue stuff.

does it look like this?

I was having this issue with a Radeon 9550.. windlight also ran terribly. In the end I switched to a non windlight viewer. ( Nicholaz BE-v may work for you - http://nicholaz-beresford.blogspot.com/

Hi 4lan. Like others have said, sounds like the issues you get with an ATI card in Windlight viewers. If that is the issue, for the time being the only real alternative is to either get a new video card, or use the Nicholaz viewer that was linked to earlier in the thread.

As an aside, can people that do still have this issue (even if they are using alternate viewers to log in) please add your vote, and post a comment (if you can) to this JIRA issue http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-3258 in the vain hope that maybe LL will work on it.

If I am seeing fuschia-colored polygons...is this the same problem? I do not have "show updates" checked....

Screenshot would be useful.

Do you have "show transparent" enabled? Alt-Ctl-T

Yes, I will send a screenshot when I get home (and when I figure out how to insert it into the post..heh)...but "show transparent" is not enabled.

There's a link at the bottom lower left of the forum pages that reads "vBcode".

The url for that link is http://forums.secondlife.com/misc.php?do=bbcode .

That explains about the codes using to do show pictures and do other tricks in this forum.

If you use flickr or photobucket or other image storing services, just put the screenshot up there, then put the url of the image here, enclosed by img tags.

You can also set your editing mode for this forum in the User CP (User Control Panel), to allow you either Standard or WYSIWYG mode, to spare yourself the bother of remembering codes.

Thank you very much, Mordos, for coming to check these for me. As I said, I'm just glad

a) I am not hallucinating (right now, anyway) and
b) that it's not my viewer.
