I generally don't get onto SL until rather late in the US night--11pm - midnight SL time. There's often a quorum of friends at one of a handful of clubs, but sometimes there isn't. Other times I just want to tilt at different windmills, meet new people. I've wandered alone through a lot of great builds and enjoy that, but it'd be cool to encounter actual social scenes.
Here's my question: is anything notable usually happening anywhere on the grid around that time? I'd appreciate suggestions of any kind from anywhere. Thanks in advance!

I'm the same way - I usually don't get on until late. Obviously I need to make more of an effort to shirk my RL responsibilities and spend more time on SL! The thing I've found is that there is a much larger number of Europeans and Asians on at those hours. There's a crowd usually at Frank's Place if you like to dance - usually at Bogarts as well. I've never had a hard time finding a partner there, but you may have to work around some English problems. Frankly, I've really enjoyed some of the conversations I've had with the European women I've met at both places and both places have really nice atmospheres.
Other than that, it's the normal stuff. Always hit the Hangout! There's usually someone there, and if not, there will be soon enough. Tegg shows up around that time and he's a really cool guy to talk to. People are always popping in and out and it seems like the Cartel folks usually have a good idea of what's going on around the grid, so you can ask around a little and see what they're up to.
Try CARP. That place is ALWAYS crowded.

there used to be a time that I would have the answer to the question of "where to go" hehe
seriously though do a search maybe hit some events
I know it is hard to find quality events where ppl actually hang out
I have yet to find a decent place to hang out that doesn't have ppl dressed in next to nothing I need to build a decent cafe and hang out there, alone, with no one to talk to .....
*ah hell where is the forum hangout, time I visited anyway*

I <3 SL late night, it's a ghost town, server load is 20 + % less and I have more time to myself! I started a little group for a couple of friends that allows other ppls to join for free, that they can msg, "who wants to go to the beach, dance, check out this new sim ...etc." w/o my input. But it's not widely used
