Where do I download SL 2.0 TURBO?

I want to download the version of SL that I saw on "C.S.I. New York" last night. You know... the one with no lag, everyone on voice, flashy teleportation, seamless and instant vehicle sim crossing, island sims that support a thousand-seat Coliseum full of avatars, and free complete avatar makeovers that take only seconds. Where can I download it?

Okay... I can settle for a landmark to the store that sells the Venus outfit.

There is a viewer that is part of the CSI thing. You can download it here...

Link: http://viewer.onrez.com/

Your existing username/passcode works on it just like the normal SL client.

And all this mentioned above is actually true? I sincerely doubt it but is it?

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Well, the CGI wizards at CBS sure made it appear like that's what SL looks like. Not sure it was the wisest move given that the newbies who sign up as a result are going to arrive with expectations of finding all of that flash and dash.

I believe this post was sarcastic. The SL shown on CSI is so much better technically than the real SL.

Is there a video or something of it here? We don't tend to get the CSI episodes you do for quite a while after..

Go here: http://www.cbs.com/innertube/index.php?src=email&vid=165671&format=wmv|flv

Choose CSI:NY from the links at the top, then 'Full Episodes'>'Down the Rabbit Hole'>Watch Now

You can't do all that? You must need to clear your cache.

When does TV ever depict factuality? Never. Never during fiction/'entertainment', and especially not during "the news".

ANY Television, ANY time, has less connection with reality than the things on SL.

I also heard you can throw stuff and kill someone in SL 2.0.....can I have that, too? *innocent look*

I just want to hunt vermin! Seriously! :D

Edit: After checking out the fashion blog, I'm getting a little concerned that I own the same boots as a murderer....

Here is where I will defend the show cause many others have stated this. The show took many, many liberties however it was specifically stated that the virus was NOT coming from Second Life. I'm guessing that was likely part of the agreement with LL for assisting with the show.

You think Joe Schmoe caught that line?

Not likely. I must admit I was listening for the explanation. The average Joe would not have been.

Second Life tends to give an inaccurate picture of what it's really like out there in RL, So why should RL portray SL accurately???

I think they virus HAD to be added to spice up the element of danger in the Plot of the show.

Without it, the show was turning out to be too much like watching someone play a video game.

My Husband finally watched the episode this morning and he thought it was stupid. And he likes all the CSI series.

I don't think he realized there is even a real Second Life.

Ann > Thank you. :)

I figured sooner or later someone was gonna shout "CGI". For the record, there was no CGI involved whatsoever. All the footage of SL for the show was shot in-world by the Electric Sheep Company machinima team. Yes, we actually did all that in SL, at least appearance-wise. Our team created all the machinima footage per the requirements of the script, and then the CSI editing people simply inserted it into the episode.

Obviously, it didn't accurately represent how SL works in a functional sense. Accuracy is just not something TV shows ever do. CSI isn't a documentary; it's fiction. They aren't even accurate about how forensic science works, let alone a sidebar topic of the week like SL.

TV writers always make up whatever they want in order to fit their story line. Love it, hate it, whatever, just don't expect any different.

That said, yeah, some newbies may end up expecting some things they saw on the show to be real. I doubt the presence or absence of those things will make or break anyone's experience though.

Still, I agree with you. It would be nice if some of that stuff were real. Of course, I think it would be nice if Star Trek were real too, so maybe I'm just crazy like that. :D

Not that it matters, because the mythical Backend Lag Monster will still eat most of the avatars anyways.
