Hair and objects a mess after tp

Hi, i'm still learning, so use simple terms if you will answer :-)

After i tp, it's often that my av gets messed up. I loose parts of hair, or bracelets or chookers float in the air next to me.

And i can't detach the hair hanging on my skull. I know 3 ways to detach:

- to find the hair in inventory and click on "take off"
- to click directly on the hair and "detach"
- to go up on the black line on top of the screen and find the "detach object" line

No one of that works before after a long time. And i can't put on other hair, then it gets between my legs. Yep, very nice indeed....

As for jewelery, some things is so small if often takes time to see them, like diamond studs. But when i find them in inventory, they get away in the same second as i click "take off". Why does the messy hair stay on for so long? Is it me or just a bug?

Hi Marianne,
First of all, it's not just you! It happens to all of us. Objects will end up on the wrong places after a TP from time to time. The only solution is to take them off and put them back on again. It's an annoying bug, sometimes refered to as the 'boot in bum feature'.
The delay in putting other hair on is more than likely caused by lag. One solution is to find a low-lag place, or go high up in the sky to change your hair. By the way, i was trying on several demo hairs last night and they took a loooong time to change. Again, it's not just you.
Small objects taking time to appear is probably also lag. Unless you mean you can not see them at all because they disappear into your body when you wear them. In that case, and if they are modifiable, you could try to attach them somewhere else where they are visible, make them bigger, take them off, re-attach to the correct spot, shrink them to fit. (If that sounds complicated let me know, it's easier than it sounds).
Good luck!!

hehe it happens to everyone. But it usually doesn't happen ALL the time. Maybe you can help it somewhat.

> Every time you TP, the game has to put back on everything you're wearing. SO, if you happen to be wearing a pair of boots where each one is 300 prims, that's a lot of stuff. You can check how many prims are in something by right-clicking it and choosing "edit". The prim count is halfway down the page.

> Some clothes and hair are laggier than others. If an AV is wearing a lot of flexi, and a lot of scripts (remember, colorchange hair and jewelry and shoes have a script in every single colorchange piece), and 2000 prims -- well, they are lagging their client to death. In a club, such a person probably would not be able to move at all. Not doing the sim a whole lot of good either!

Good luck and have fun!

Which actually reminds me of a time when I was at a busy beach island with a bunch of friends and nobody could TP anywhere. The owner suggested to people that stripping to their nuddies, flying up and trying again would help. It worked. Luckily I was in no hurry, so I could wait it out without stripping, or horror of horrors, going bald.

Actually, relogging will often fix your attachment woes, and is frequently much easier than trying to detach and reattach everything you're wearing.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Depends on the number of pie(ce)s you're wearing ;)

Tue though, although at times with log in problems that may not be such a popular option.

TY for all answears.

But I am a bit confused....for girls SL is much about finding "good" stuff like clothes and hair. Yes, I went through a lot of free stuff, then bought some boots to 200 §L, an outfit, hair from Gurl....so to get stuck in lag is the prize I must pay for my AV looking good?

How depressing. Now shopping has lost some of the fun. *sigh* Just pulling out the frebie stuff and "Girl next door" from the trashbox....

HEY! Take that Gurl6 hair out of the trash! Nah, don't go crazy. I wear flexi and colorchange stuff all the time. I just keep an eye on it when I'm having lag troubles. When the body count in a sim gets up around 35, I begin to think that life as a stripper wouldn't be too bad ...

Hehehehe I think you'll find that girls will still walk around with all their nice things on.
The items in the wrong places after TP thing is relatively random as far as i know.
Lag is partly related to your system. Getting stuck in lag also depends on where you are, at what time of day, how busy it is, etcetera. No reason to give up on those lovely items, just take into account what you're wearing and where you're going. So keep some relatively low prim items handy for busy places times and save the higher prim items for quieter places and times, or those occasions when you have all the time in the world to walk across a room ;) .

Carry a razor when teleporting to remove unwanted nether hair.
LOL

One thing that can help - any time you're teleporting to a busy location, add +100 to the z coordinate.

You'll appear in midair, usually with less lag than on the ground, and a better chance of appearing with all your parts in the right places (Anyone remember Spaceballs? *grin*)
Once you've finished TPing, if all is well, fly down. You can also TP to the correct location. I've noticed the bug never happens while TPing within a region - only when you go region-to-region. I TPed 47 times within my region in a space of 4 minutes with no errors.

more fun if you are furry

I hope this helps make everyone feel better.

As a furry I often arrive with my whole head up my kiester...now I've been accused of this before, but to have it literally happen is a shock!

Draw Distance Tip
09-13-2007 14:59
One other tip - if you're going to be TPing around to busy places, try going into the "Menu", "Edit", "Preferences", "Graphics" and setting the draw distance to lower. This drastically reduces the amount of "stuff" that your client has to get and render before it will allow you to move. Normally you only want to see things close by anyway in crowded places. Try a value like 100 and see how it works for you.

If you want to look further, just crank it back up again once you are there.

This won't help the boot-in-bum problem but it will make your transitions quicker.

Here's a handy tip I figured out when I was wearing a prim-heavy costume and TP'ing from place to place:

Put all of the prim-based items in one folder and name it something easy to find. Open up inventory and open that folder. Just before you hit the TP button to go somewhere else, right-click on the folder name and click "Take Off Items". Reach over real quick and hit the Teleport button (wherever it is).

Once you've arrived, go ahead and right-click on the folder and select "Add to Outfit". It takes a bit for everything to re-rez, but it will all come back in to the correct location after a bit, depending on the other factors mentioned in this thread (amount of lag in sim, draw distance, etc.).

BTW, I usually leave draw distance at 96m, and have moved it down as low as 32m depending on the location (inside a busy club/mall, for example).

You aint experience life till you find your shoes and hair up your butt. The experience simply isn't complete without it.

The benefits of a classy avatar far outweigh the occasional hair up the rump. =D Don't let it get you down- it happens to everyone.

Hell, not only does my hair end up in my arse when I teleport, half my avatar is covered in bubbles from the tons of sculpties I'm addicted to in my clothing. No one judges you on those first few moments when you're trying to rez, it's all fubar =)

I keep the first small plot of land on the mainland I first owned and have it listed as Home still. When I TP somewhere and get messed up I can quickly Go Home and repair myself in private.
